Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West can be completed in 8 to 10 hours, on average. If you enter this expansion over-leveled or play on a lower difficulty, it is possible to fly through it in five to seven hours. However, it takes about 15 to 20 hours to complete everything.

To put this duration into perspective, the DLC expansion for the previous game, Frozen Wilds, also took about seven and a half hours to complete at a fast pace, or about 17 hours for a completionist run – which makes Forbidden West’s expansion somewhat longer. That seems appropriate when we take into account that the main game was also much bigger, it took about 30 hours to complete Zero Dawn, or about 75 to do everything in the game, while completing everything in Forbidden West can take up to 90 hours.

Burning Shores is set on a completely new map that covers the territory of former Los Angeles that became unrecognizable after the archipelago became a volcanic zone. The expansion brings many new enemies, weapons, and equipment for Aloy, but also directly continues the story after the shocking ending of Forbidden West – which you will have to complete before starting this expansion. Unlike Frozen Wilds, which was mid-game additional content in the last game, Burning Shores represent a true post-game continuation that should keep Horizon fans entertained until we get a proper sequel announced.
