Scarlet and Violet are the latest adventures in the mainline Pokémon series, ending out the year with a more traditional experience. It follows Pokémon Legends: Arceus, something a lot more experimental and fresh. That said, the new games do have an open world element to them, making big structural changes to the classic formula. What does that mean for how long it takes to beat Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
How Long is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
Turns out there’s a general target aimed for with each Pokémon game, and these two new versions don’t really rock that boat in particular. If you’re just playing casually and running through the main story, Pokémon Scarlet or Violet will take around 20 hours to roll credits. This isn’t an exact number of course, but generally speaking, you can expect a number close to that if you aren’t stopping to take your time or go out of your way to leave the beaten path.

If you’re the kind of Pokémon player that wants to take their time, explore and catch every Pokémon in the game, you’re looking at at least 50 hours. And that’s probably lowballing if we’re honest. Pokémon games can soak up hundreds of hours depending on how deeply you engage with them. After all, there’s multiplayer, trading, recurring events in the game, and things like Mystery Gift Codes adding more content.
