Everyone and their dogs have been playing Among Us, the hit new deception game that isn’t actually new at all. Among Us was a small game released to no fanfare in 2018, but now it’s a massive cultural phenomenon that the developers have been forced to respond to. After changing course from a sequel, the developers opted to continue working on and improving the initial game.
How to Play the Among Us Beta Version
To that end, players can actually join in on an Among Us Beta channel. This is where new features soon to roll out land first, in order for the developers to gather feedback and address any issues they may not be aware of. For example, one of the newest features to reach the Among Us Beta channel is the option to vote anonymously. This could have a huge impact on the game, possibly giving imposters even more ways to get a leg up on the other crew members.

If you want to try out the Among Us Beta channel, you’re in luck; it’s actually pretty easy to do that. Unfortunately, it’s only available to players utilizing the PC version. If you’re mostly playing Among Us on mobile, you’re just going to have to wait patiently for new features to be ironed out. But if you are on PC, playing Among Us via Steam, all you have to do is click through a few option menus. Here’s what you need to do, step by step:
- In Steam, right-click on the game in your library
- Select “Properties”
- Click on the “Betas” option
- Find the choice labeled “public-beta”
Once you do that, Steam will download the Beta version of Among Us, and you’ll be restricted to playing the game only with other players using the Beta channel. So your pool of overall players might be much smaller, but you’ll be able to participate in the testing phase for upcoming new features planned for Among Us. You’ll also have to keep in mind this version doesn’t generally get patch notes, so it’s up to the community to figure out what changes come via updates.
