How to Find Poison Sac

The Poison Sac is massively important if you’re wanting to upgrade your weapons to include poison ailments, and you’ll need to farm for this item if you wish to complete any upgrade trees containing it. Unfortunately, the Poison Sac is a fairly rare item, and only drops from the Pukei-Pukei, a large, bird-like monster that you can find in the first area of the game, the Ancient Forest.

If you really want to double down and start farming for Poison Sac, then the best way to do that is going to be to head out onto investigations that task you with hunting the Pukei-Pukei. Investigations are similar to quests, but they are tasks earned by hunting monsters and gathering information about them from their mucus, scrape marks, footprints, and more. The more of these clues you collect, the more investigations you will unlock for that monster in the Resource Center.

Make your way back to Astera and head to the Resource Center. Here you can speak with three NPCs that will help you manage your current lineup of investigations. Look for any Investigations that require hunting the Pukei-Pukei and then accept that Investigation. You’ll obviously want to look for Investigations that reward higher tier drops—like Bronze, Silver, and Gold—as this will ensure you get a better chance at scoring some Poison Sac. Obviously, the higher tier the rewards, the more difficult the Investigation will be, so make sure you’re properly equipped to take on the job.

When you’re ready to head out, pick up a meal at the Canteen to improve your stats, and make sure you check out our guide on how to capture monsters if your Investigation has tasked you with capturing the Pukei-Pukei.
