With so much chaos, infestation, and action in Resident Evil 4 Remake, sometimes Leon and Ashley could use a little reprieve. With all of the horrors they encounter and have to deal with throughout their journey to escape, who wouldn’t want a little R&R? Thankfully, our good friend the Merchant is more than willing to provide with his Shooting Galleries. The rewards and the Token Machine can be a little confusing, though. Here’s how the Token Machine works in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

How Do You Use the Token Machine in Resident Evil 4 Remake?

When completing each of the Shooting Gallery missions in the game, you’ll be rewarded based on how you performed and how many points you obtained. These come in the form of Silver and Gold tokens, which can then be traded at the Token Machine for charms. The better the tokens, the higher the rarity of charm you can get. The charms you get are also randomized, so you’ll need some good luck to get one that’s useful.

With that being said, your first instinct may be to use the typewriter to load your save and try to reroll the charms until you get one that’s good. Unfortunately, that’s now how the system works. Putting it as simply as possible, the different token combinations each have their own pool of charms that can be dropped. These will remain in the same order no matter how many times you try to load the last save. As such, your best bet for good charms is to get as many spins using three Gold tokens as possible, then use whatever Silver tokens you have left. In total, there are four combinations that can give different charm rewards:

  • Three Gold Tokens (Best Rewards)
  • Two Gold Tokens, One Silver Token
  • One Gold Token, Two Silver Tokens
  • Three Silver Tokens (Worst Rewards)

With that in mind, you should go for the highest rank whenever possible. This will take a ton of precision and good timing, but it’ll net you the best results. Don’t feel too bad if you can’t pull it off, though, since getting any charms at all is a plus. You can have up to three attached to your attache case at any given time, and they can be swapped out at any point through the typewriter. Now get in there and gamble to your heart’s content!
