Ghost of Tsushima has finally arrived and as players explore the island of Tsushima there are a few different types of items they can collect to upgrade their armor and weapons. If you plan to stop the Mongol’s form taking over, your gear will need to be the best of the best. So, in this guide, we are going to take a look at how to craft in Ghost of Tsushima and break down each category of material.
Ghost of Tsushima Crafting Guide
If you’re just jumping into Ghost of Tsushima, there are a couple of things you’re going to need to know about how the crafting system works. Essentially, there are four main types of items that players can collect to craft better gear for Jin. Players wondering how to craft in Ghost of Tsushima will need to focus on collecting Cloth, Goods, Metal, and Wood. Here’s a breakdown of each item.
- Cloth: Used to craft new outfits
- Goods: Used to upgrade weapons, dye clothes, and purchase weapons
- Metal: Used to craft upgrades for your katana and tanto
- Wood: Used to craft upgrades for your bow
There are a couple of different Cloth variants in the game to keep your eye out for: Leather, Linen, and Silk. These items can typically be found in populated areas and are often given to players as a reward for completing the Tales of Tsushima side missions. Further, as you collect Cloth, you’ll be able to use it to craft new outfits in Ghost of Tsushima.
Goods are probably the broadest category of crafting materials in Ghost of Tsushima: Flowers, Predator Hides, and Supplies. These items can be used for a handful of different things from upgrading weapons to dying clothes. As you might expect, flowers are used to dye clothes and can be found most commonly in the Toyotoma marshland. Predator Hides are, well, hides from different creatures you kill and can be traded to Trappers for weapons, increased ammo capacity, and more. Lastly, as you collect Supplies you’ll be able to purchase weapons and upgrades from different vendors in Ghost of Tsushima, and are the main form of currency.

Metal items can be used to craft and improve the power of the player’s katana and tanto. There are three different types of Metal items in the game: Gold, Iron, and Steel. Players will only be able to find Metal items in Mongol strongholds, like farms, villages, and camps. These can be a bit tough to get since you’ll have to get into an enemy location, but it’ll be worth it to upgrade your weapons.
Last up in our Ghost of Tsushima crafting guide are the Wood items: Bamboo, Wax Wood, and Yew. Wood can be used to increase the strength of a player’s bow and are typically found in the forest (shocker) or by completing Shinto Shrine challenges.
To craft items in Ghost of Tsushima, you’ll need to take your resources to a specific crafting station, depending on what kind of item you’re wanting to craft. For example, if you want better armor you’ll need to go to an Armorer’s crafting station, which can typically be found in populated towns and areas.
