Horizon Zero Dawn – Best Armor List
Equipment works a bit different in Horizon Zero Dawn, and if you want to make it far on your journey to explore the world, you’re going to need a good set of armor to back you up. In this article we’ll take a look at several different armor options, all of which offer special conditions and stats to help you pick the best armor in Horizon Zero Dawn and take on every problem you run into.
Shadow Stalward Heavy
One of the last sets of armor that you’ll unlock, this heavy Kestrel Armor is a great option for those who want protection from blinding and sonic attacks, like those used by the Glinthawks and Stormbirds. This armor also offers three modification slots, which allow you to really tweak it any way possible, especially after you get the Tinker skill. To pick it up you’ll need a total of 680 Metal Shards and a Stalker Heart.
Nora Silent Hunter Heavy Armor
If you like using stealth, and you’ve been looking for a good set of armor that works towards your needs, look no further. The Nora Silent Hunter Heavy Armor provides a total of +50 Stealth on its own, which doesn’t include the two modification slots that are available to help make it even strong. It will cost a hefty price, though, and weighs in at costing 800 Metal Shards and 1 Bellowback Heart.
Nora Survivor Heavy Armor
Looking for something that offers plenty of protection from all the elements? The Nora Survivor Heavy Armor is one of the best options available if you want something that offers protection against Freeze, Fire, Shock, and Corruption damage. It weighs in at a boost of +15 to each stat, but it will cost you to pick it up. Visit a merchant in Meridian with a total of 900 Metal Shards, 40 Blaze, and two Watcher Hearts to pick it up. This set also comes with two modification spots.
Nora Protector Heavy Armor
Want something that offers excellent protection against physical damage? The Nora Protector Heavy Armor gives the wearer a boost of +30 melee protection, which is great for those going toe-to-toe with the Shadow Carja. It won’t offer any protection against elemental damage, but there are plenty of modification slots available to help you fine tune it. To purchase this armor you’ll need a hefty 1,000 Metal Shards and a Shell-Walker Heart.
Shield-Weaver Armor
We’ve already detailed this armor set in our guide on how to get the Shield-Weaver armor, but it’s worth mentioning here because it offers the best all-around protection in the game. Focused around technology from the old-world, the Shield-Weaver armor blocks all of the incoming damage that Aloy receives and dispels it, allowing Aloy to take a massive amount of hits without ever stopping. You’ll have to wait for it to recharge after a good number of hits, but it lasts quite a while, and is extremely useful. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get it until near the end of the game.
While there are other armor options out there, the ones that we’ve mentioned above have proven the most useful during our time with the game. We’ll be sure to update this list if any new information arises, and some users may find that other armor sets work better for them depending on their chosen playstyle.
