I’ve been playing a lot of Hi-Fi Rush, the sick new character action-slash-music rhythm hybrid game from… Tango Gameworks of all studios. A company mostly all about horror games dropped a giant warhead made of rock candy and a mixtape someone’s millennial uncle dropped on a bus somewhere. It rules. While there’s a big chunk of original music, pivotal moments in the game are driven by licensed music from an intriguing array of artists. Here’s a list of all the licensed songs in the Hi-Fi Rush soundtrack.

Also for the interest of spoilers, I guess, I won’t be providing any context for these songs. Unless I need to spruce up my word count, in which case I assume zero responsibility for dropping mild spoilers in here somehow. Here’s the list, and in exchange I’d like one of you to help me find out how the hell Billy Corgin got someone to pay licensing fees for Zwan.
- 1,000,000 – Nine Inch Nails – Original Album: The Slip
- The Perfect Drug – Nine Inch Nails – Original Album: Lost Highway
- Lonely Boy – The Black Keys – Original Album: El Camino
- Invaders Must Die – The Prodigy – Original Album: Invaders Must Die
- Whirring – The Joy Formidable – Original Album: The Big Roar
- Inazawa Chainsaw – Number Girl – The Original Album: Omoide in my Head 1 ~Best & B-Sides~
- Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony – Wolfgang Gartner
- Honestly – Zwan – Original Album: Mary Star of the Sea
Note that Hi-Fi Rush also has a “Streamer Mode” setting, which does replace all the licensed music with original music. This is to combat the automated DMCA strikes that tend to happen out there in the streaming world.

Bethesda has set up an official playlist for the game on Spotify, but it only includes (most of) the licensed music. No word on the rest of the OST but I did reach out to the publisher for any possible information. We’ll see how that goes.
