How to Enter the Beta

Unlike previous betas, the latest Gwent beta is publicly available on all of the game’s three platforms, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. To join the beta, all you need to do is head to the Gwent website (if you’re on PC), or make your way to the Xbox One or PlayStation Store.

Once you sign up on PC, you can download the game client, and it will only take a few seconds to get started and hop in. Playing the beta on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is a bit more complicated, as you’ll need to manually locate the beta in the Xbox and PlayStation stores.

When you have located the beta, download it, and then start the game up to get started.

Beginner Tips

If you’re brand new to the Gwent standalone game, then you’ll probably notice that things are quite a bit different than you’re used to in the base game that shipped inside of The Witcher 3. Because of this we’ve put together a few helpful tips to get you started in this uncharted territory.

Play the tutorial. This may seem silly, and you may be thinking ‘I already know how to Gwent’, but trust us. This is something completely different than the game that you’re used to in The Witcher 3. So do yourself a favor and let Ciri show you the ropes.

Find a faction you want to use and stick with it. Don’t worry about the others. Focus on building up your deck for that faction and start progressing.

Complete all the challenges. This is a really good way to get some new Leader cards, while also earning Ore, which can be used to purchase Kegs—which give you cards. You’ll want to always be adding new cards to your collection, because then you can start crafting cards and building up your deck with the most powerful cards you have.

Now that you know how to get into the latest beta, and have a few tips to get you started, hop in and try your hand at some of the AI fights. The standalone version of Gwent is quite different than the original game, but that’s not a bad thing—especially for users who enjoy the various aspects of CCGs.
