Do the Houses have more than one route each? Is there any route not particularly tied to any House’s success? Obviously, we’re going to venture slightly into spoiler territory here for those who want to make an informed choice, but our Fire Emblem Three Houses story paths guide should prove useful to anyone on the fence.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses Story Paths Guide

The first thing to get out of the way is that there are actually FOUR different story paths in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. That might seem a bit strange considering that there’s only three Houses, but it’s not a matter of us being horrific at counting. The different routes are as follows:

  1. Azure Moon — Blue Lions
  2. Verdant Wind — Golden Deer
  3. Crimson Flower — Black Eagles
  4. Silver Snow — Black Eagles

Yes, that’s correct. As explained in our Fire Emblem Three Houses Secret Route guide, there are two different routes available if you pick the Black Eagles House on your playthrough.

The Crimson Flower route is the one that enables you to align the most closely with Edelgard, so if you’re picking the House based on your ability to romance her or to support her aims, then you’re going to have to make the crucial choices outlined in our Secret Route guide.

Failing to do so will automatically set you on the Silver Snow route: while this is only accessible via the Black Eagles, it will actually align you with the Church instead of with Edelgard and the Adrestian Empire. In that sense, it’s a wholly unique experience compared to the routes of the Blue Lions and the Golden Deer, which all involve their House leader in a major way.

If you’re still on the fence as to which route you should pick, it’s probably good to know that Verdant Winds route (Claude’s route) has a distinctly different ending to Dimitri and Edelgard’s routes.

There’s actually a different final boss if that’s something that you’re wanting to consider, and Edelgard’s personal route — Crimson Flower — is notably shorter than the other two in terms of chapters available so that might be a factor that new players are also wanting to keep in mind.

Across all things, the various routes have their fair share of drama no matter which House you’re throwing your lot in with, but the Church route will give you a markedly different experience if that’s something that appeals to you outside of the norm. Now that you have our Fire Emblem Three Houses story paths guide to help you make an informed choice, go forth and conquer!
