If you like collecting rare weapons like the Thyrsus staff in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, then it’s going to be difficult to go past the Lance of Ruin. Pretty much everyone encounters it, but if you want to keep it, you’re going to have to go to extra lengths to do so. Here’s where our Fire Emblem Three Houses Lance of Ruin guide comes in: we’ll make sure that you’re not left empty-handed when it counts.

Fire Emblem Three Houses Lance of Ruin Guide

First of all, the Lance of Ruin is pretty decent. Here are the stats that it has when you get the chance to acquire it fairly early on in the game:

  • Might: 22
  • Weight: 9
  • Hit: 65
  • Crit: 20
  • Range: 1
  • Uses: 20
  • Perks: Units with the Crest of Gautier will gain access to the Ruined Sky perk.

Plot spoilers kick in here in terms of where and when you can encounter this weapon, so just keep that in and turn back now if you don’t want your experience to be tarnished in the slightest. So, essentially, you’re confronted with the Lance of Ruin when you and your students have to go put down the latest insurrection in the face of the Church of Seiros. You have to face down Miklan from House Gautier, and if you’ve got Sylvain with you, then you’ll recognize that this is a family matter.

Once you successfully defeat this mission in Chapter 5 and retrieve the Lance of Ruin, you’ll have the option to either say that you want to keep it, or hand it over to Lady Rhea like a good teacher. Here’s where it gets tricky: Sylvain has to be in your House if you want to keep it. He’s the only person who can actually use this weapon because it has otherwise fatal consequences (which the game makes very apparent), so Rhea won’t let you keep the bad boy unless he intervenes. Sylvain is easy enough to recruit if you’re playing Byleth as a lady, but if you’re not, then you need to up your Riding and Lance skills to nab him before that chapter.

Now that you’ve got our Fire Emblem Three Houses Lance of Ruin guide to hand, you should be easily able to get your mitts on it and refuse to let go under pressure. It’s a decent early-game weapon, though it can only be repaired in a very specific way like the Sword of the Creator so be stingy with it initially until you’ve got the right materials to maintain it.
