Fire Emblem Engage Cooking Guide

What I wouldn't give to eat dinner with a dragon

The Somniel is full of things to do, but perhaps one of the most charming is sitting down to a home-cooked meal with two of your favorite units. Or even units that you want a chance to get to know to better. This mechanic offers a handful of bonuses, but it can also go pretty badly. Here’s your Fire Emblem Engage cooking guide, to make sure you’re the perfect chef and hostess.

Fire Emblem Engage Cooking Guide

Technically, Alear will never cook a meal herself. But you manage the person who is cooking just enough to ensure that each meal that arrives at your table is a dining delight.

After all, you want to get the most out of those sweet, sweet buffs. Because that’s precisely what these meals do. Depending on which dish is selected, they offer explicit buffs over various stats in the next battle for those units that attended the dinner. These meals also increase the support level between the units who attend and also Alear.

Now, here’s how to get the best meals:

Pay attention to who is cooking. The person who is cooking is likelier to be adept at the dishes from their home country. This capability will be represented by a set of sparkles beside the dish name and the chef’s ability to cook it. This ranges from Capable to Skilled. A capable meal is likely to produce a B-Tier Meal at least, whereas a Skilled dish is likely to produce an A-Tier Meal.

Higher-tier meals mean the chance of higher stat boosts! Which is further increased by the amount of Rare ingredients you include. Whereas low-tier meals can give stat debuffs. A terrifying prospect in higher difficulties.

Choose your guest list by country. This sounds… a little xenophobic. But these are the guests that are much more likely to enjoy the chef’s dishes, and thus give you more range on which dish you want to choose. After all, each of the 130 available dishes has different stat boosts. You’ll want to pick one that serves each unit’s class, not just ones they like.

Characters from the same country are also more likely to share support conversations, so it’s killing two birds with one stone.

Pick lots and lots of ingredients. The more ingredients you pick, the more likely it is that you’ll obtain a packed lunch! These lunches, called bentos by some, can be carried by a unit into the next battle. They’ll offer health boosts and are a little better than a Vulnerary.

If you find yourself struggling to get enough ingredients, you’ll want to increase your ranking with the nation Firene, as they offer significant ingredient boosts. Also, skirmishes in their country tend to also have great post-battle ingredients to gather.

With all this together, you’re much more likely to get a meal worth having. Good luck and bon appétit!
