Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to Get Numinous Ashes (FF7)

Burn, baby, burn.

One of the first recipes that you can make with the Item Transmuter in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the Phoenix Draft, but you need Numinous Ashes to transmute it. If, like I did, you couldn’t figure out how to get them, here’s where to find Numinous Ashes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

How to Get Numinous Ashes in FF7R – Location Guide

Numinous Ashes are found in the Grasslands, the first open-world area you explore in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in Chapter 2. When exploring, look for rocks where you’ll find resources with the stone icon. If you’re lucky, these will sometimes be Numinous Ashes. You’ll likely pick up a fair amount of Iron Ore and Lea Titanium, too, which can also be used with the Item Transmuter.

I personally had the most luck finding Numinous Ashes by rocks in the southeast section of the Grasslands map, near the Field Intel 2: Bearer of Grudges and the road leading north to the Eastern Seaboard Tower, but they can spawn all over the Grasslands.

You can also buy Numinous Ashes from Chloe’s Tack Shop for 200 Gil each. You’ll find Chloe inside the barn at Bill’s Ranch, southeast of Kalm in the Grasslands. She sells other resources for the Item Transmuter as well, such as Beast Talon and Mist Seeds, alongside gear for your Chocobo.

How to Use Numinous Ashes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – Item Transmuter Recipes

So far, I’ve found two Item Transmuter recipes that use Numinous Ashes in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. These are:

  • Phoenix Draft – Revives and restores a small amount of HP:
    • 3 Numinous Ashes.
    • 1 Pearl Ginger Root.
    • 1 Beast Talon.
  • Smelling Salts – Wakes up a party member affected by the Sleep status condition:
    • 2 Numinous Ashes.
    • 1 Laurel.
    • 1 Beast Talon.

Crafting these early-game items will help to increase your Craftsmanship Level – especially since you get a first-time craft XP bonus – which unlocks new Item Transmuter recipes for you to make.
