Your enemies taking a snooze might seem like an advantage, but if you want to get that full World Intel, you’ll need them awake. Here’s how to prevent enemies from using Quick Nap in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7).
How to Stop Wailing Weed from Using Quick Nap in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7)
As you traverse the Grassland, you’ll periodically run across enemies who do more than throw blows your way. They may also take a Quick Nap and recover their health. While that can be a vague annoyance if you’re trying to complete Fiend Intel 4 in the Grassland: Wailing Weed, which requires you to prevent enemies from using Quick Nap, it’s a necessity to interrupt.
To stop enemies from using Quick Nap in Final Fantasy 7, you have a few solutions.
- Kill the enemy quickly
- Reserve ATB to use on an enemy to stagger it
Quick Nap is an enemy ability with a short cast time. So, the moment you see the banner above the enemy’s head that says ‘Quick Nap’, you should be prepared to either kill it or use an ability like Cloud’s Triple Slash to interrupt it. Triple Slash only costs one segment of the ATB gauge. You only need to interrupt Quick Nap once to check this challenge off Chadley’s list.
The enemy you’re most likely to encounter using Quick Nap is the Mandrake, a plant-like enemy with low HP and weaknesses to both fire and water. Equipping a Fire or Ice Materia will allow you to use these abilities. Likewise, you can buy a combined Fire and Ice Materia from Chadley for only 10 Data Points. You can always find Chadley in town or at a Chocobo Ranch.
Fire and Ice attacks can also stagger the Mandrake. But it’s better to avoid using the abilities on power magic users like Aerith, who are liable to simply kill the Mandrake instead of pressure it. Instead, equip that Fire or Ice Materia on a character like Barret or Tifa instead.
If you want to level up your Materia fast, there’s a way to quickly get those stars. Or you can just keep on trucking and take out the next set of fiends.
