FFXIV: How to Get and Use the Mogpendium

Finally a good event overhaul!

The newest Moogle Treasure Trove edition has finally arrived in Final Fantasy XIV with a new twist: the addition of the Mogpedium, a new tome that completely overhauls how to obtain these rewards from the flying pests. The changes look good so far, and here are them.

Where to Get the Mogpendium in FFXIV

The Mogpedium can be obtained by speaking with any of the Itinerant Moogles located in any of the three main cities during the Treasure Trove event period. Their locations are:

  • Lima Lominsa Lower Decks (X:9.4, Y:11.6)
  • New Gridania (X:12.4, Y:12.1)
  • Ul’dah, Steps of Nald (X:9.6, Y:9.1)

You immediately unlock the book as soon as you interact with the Moogle. You can check the Mogpedium by speaking with it again or by opening your Collection in the Duty tab (the “!” icon next to your money).

The Mogpendium shows you which duties reward you with the current event’s Irregular Tomestones. It updates during each iteration of the seasonal event, so it’ll always be relevant.

Standard Objectives include all duties that reward you with Irregular Tomestones. Weekly Objectives picks a random duty out of these and applies it a special bonus for this Week (resets every Tuesday). Minimog Challenges are similar but feature different activities, such as completing FATES.

Finally, the Ultimog Challenge is the same for everyone. It features a unique, uncommon challenge as an incentive that rewards a huge amount of Tomes. This challenge can only be completed once per event period. The first Ultimog Challenge in the game is Ocean Fishing for The First Hunt for Genesis, but a different duty will probably take its place in the future.

Tomestones vary by content. The amount of extra Tomes received for each special challenge is the following:

  • Weekly Objective – x20
  • Minimog Challenge – x10 each (2 per week)
  • Ultimog Challenge – x50 each

Overall, the hunt for those elusive Tomestones made the event way easier to complete. You can still farm in the good, old, blue-fashioned way if you want, but getting those big prizes is probably easier now. And hopefully for the best.
