FFVII Crisis Core: Materia Fusion Explained

Once you unlock Materia Fusion, you can take two Materia you possess and fuse them into something stronger. The types of Materia and potency will change your desired result.

For instance, fusing a Fira and Thunder TM will create Blizzara. This might seem odd, but it’s all about the power of the material being used.

Materia created through fusion are usually set at level 1, but the higher a Materia’s level, the higher the base level the new Materia will be at. This means even if you have two Fire Materias, but both are Master level, they can be fused for additional bonuses to magic and AP.

Getting your Materia to Master Level is done by using them repeatedly in combat. This is also how you can create new and more powerful abilities like Dark Firaga, Blast Wave, and more.

The easiest way to see what you’re going to create is to select a high-level Materia and then scroll down your list of available options, you will see the result before committing, so you can see all of your options in front of you. The more time you spend fusing and leveling up your Materia, the more options you will have for end-game level abilities and spells. Once a Materia hits Master level, swap it out for something else and then begin the fusing process.
