What’s Coming in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0?

Alongside the thrilling Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion, which releases shortly after the free update on September 26, Update 2.0 changes much of the gameplay with major overhauls and revamps of core systems. So far, we’ve glimpsed the redesigned skill trees, revamped cyberwar, vehicle combat, AI improvements, police revamp, and so much more!

Vehicle Combat and Chases

First and foremost, one of the most thrilling additions to Cyberpunk 2077 includes vehicle combat and car chases. Before, fighting back against enemies behind the wheel was impossible unless you were lumped in the passenger seat. But now, we have options.

There are three methods to fight back when driving, including using a pistol or submachine gun while riding a motorcycle, utilizing vehicle-mounted weapons, thanks to CrystalDome technology, or hacking the opposing vehicle using new netrunner abilities.

Alternatively, you could always run. The car chases are said to occur more naturally, with the NCPD chasing your tail throughout the city streets.

Police Revamp

One of the biggest gripes many had when playing Cyberpunk 2077 is the lackluster police force, which sat idly by as you committed mass atrocities. But in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0, that all changes with the newly revamped authorities.

If you cannot abide by the law, Night City PD will dispatch a response force to punish criminals. This occurs thanks to the new Heat system, which is like wanted stars in Grand Theft Auto. At the max Heat level of 5, a Max Tac mini-boss is dispatched to deal with your shenanigans.

The police revamp works with the new vehicle combat and car chase mechanics to help make escaping challenging. Furthermore, the police will often set up roadblocks to contain you.

Thankfully, you can lose the police by hiding or leaving the scene.

Additional Update 2.0 Features

While we don’t know as much about the following features, they’re coming in Update 2.0, accessible to the entire community.

  • Redesigned skill trees and perks
  • Combat AI improvements
  • UI and UX improvements
  • Loot, item, and crafting alterations
  • Additional radio stations
  • Revamped cyberware and capacity system

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Expansion Features

Unlike the Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0, Phantom Liberty is a full-blown, paid expansion that costs $29.99 and comes with several premium features. First and foremost, as it should, Phantom Liberty includes a story expansion that continues after the main game. It also includes:

  • Dogtown
  • New storyline and characters
  • New quests, gigs, and boss fights
  • Vehicle missions and airdrops
  • Relic skill tree
  • 100+ new items
  • Level cap increased to 60

These are massive, game-changing additions that will benefit long-time players and newcomers alike by offering a more fleshed-out experience.
