EA Sports PGA Tour: The Best New Features

A new season means new features. Of the lot, what stands out the most?

Since EA Sports PGA Tour was released in April 2023, the virtual golf game has gone from strength to strength. EA promised that with each new update, they’d keep improving the game, and to date, they’ve delivered each time.

As with every new event, EA has introduced plenty of new features and improvements to PGA Tour with the Season 5 update. Another new golf course has been added to the long list of courses; the latest course is The North Course at Olympia Fields Country Club. Last but not least, included with Season 5 is A “Pass Pro” system to keep golfers completing daily and weekly challenges for extra rewards. In this post, I’ll be picking my favorite new features from the latest major updates carried out over the last few months by EA in PGA Tour.

Full One-Round Tournaments

This has been a big request since many players found out the hard way that they must play every round of golf in every event to achieve significant gains in golfer development and more. This is why cutting down the number of holes you play wasn’t a suitable option, as you hindered or slowed down the progression of your golfer tremendously.

Once you’ve changed the settings to one-round tournaments, you’ll never turn it back to the previous settings again. It’s a feature that takes the drag out of the game and allows you to cover more ground faster. Hands down, the biggest game changer EA brought with their updates to Career Mode.

Notchless Swing Meter

The Notchless Swing Meter makes everything look more appealing when driving the ball long or blasting it out of the buncher. It was a feature brought in a couple of months ago, and I am happy they’ve included it. I’m unsure if I’ll ever be able to return to the previous settings with the Notchless Swing Meter looking more aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eye.

Once I’m brave enough and learn to be in full control of my swing, I will remove the Notch and try to embark on a more immersive golfing tour. Practice makes perfect!

All Apparel

The apparel in EA Sports PGA Tour slaps hard. They’ve never missed their golf shoes, golf bags, new polo t-shirts, and most importantly, the golf equipment. The store items are so good that they force you to spend your coins on items after just making some coins. The worst thing is that some of these items don’t even make you golf better.

You can take some tips from the store and possibly go window shopping in the EA Sports PGA Tour store, looking for your next fit for the weekend or big event you have planned. EA and all of its brand sponsors brought their A-game with the appeal they’ve added and keep adding to the game.

Fast Play Mode

Without Fast Play mode and other settings included to speed up the game, PGA Tour would have suffered. This, coupled with the one-round changes made earlier this month, is up in the top five improvements to EA’s virtual golf game.

This was not because the golfing itself became boring but because there was just too much golfing to do before you progressed to the next round or next tournament. It makes all the sense for those who golf religiously and have no 9-to-5.

Does Pro Pass Get a Pass in EA Sports PGA Tour?

One of the latest new features added to the PGA Tour is the new Pro Pass, which seems to be available for a limited time only. The Pro Pass offers great rewards and a more interactive way to smash the challenges. It’s a great new feature, and I hope to see more of it as new seasons are added.

It’s a great way to keep players interested in playing more frequently and reinstate excitement if it was dying out. It looks as if the rewards will change with each new season if the Pro Pass does stay in the game as a feature. I highly doubt EA will remove it, as it fits in with the Ultimate Team themes of the other sports titles they push out. The new Pro Pass feature gets a pass and is a welcomed feature added to the virtual golf game. For more PGA Tour content, you can read: EA Sports PGA Tour: Does Buying Clubs Improve Your Stats?
