Does Tears of the Kingdom Have Autosave? – Answered

Just in case.

While you start to explore the vast landscapes of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re bound to come up against many new enemies and areas which might be a bit threatening to little Link. Between creating new contraptions and investigating everything on offer, keeping track of your process is absolutely essential. But, with a game as consuming as Tears of the Kingdom, it’s easy to forget about simple things like saving your progress between combat and puzzle. Because of this, you may have started questioning whether or not the game is equipped with autosave to help take the pressure off.

Does Tears of the Kingdom have Auto-Save?

Fortunately, for anyone who’s found themselves absorbed into Hyrule for long enough that saving might slip your mind, auto-save is fairly generous. Each time you enter a new area or come up against a challenging foe, your game will autosave, as symbolized by a small title in the bottom corner of the screen. It’s not constant, so it’s best to routinely manually save in case anything happens to sap your health and result in a game over, which is bound to happen while Link explores the vast new scenery of Hyrule without knowing what’s to come.

Generally, if you’re trying anything new, especially when it comes to testing new machinery, it’s probably best to make sure you’ve saved, just in case. Saving, in general, is just as simple as it was in Breath of the Wild too, so it’ll quickly become routine for anyone who’s familiar with the process. To manually save, you’ll need to press the pause button (+) and toggle over to the System Page to find the Save and Load buttons. From here, you’ll be able to access any of your previous autosave files and manually save your game, or even return to the title screen if you’ve had your fill.
