Does Sun Haven Have Controller Support For Steam Deck?

Can you farm on the go with Sun Haven on the Steam Deck?

Taking a relaxing farming sim on the go sounds like a dream come true to me, so when I was looking more into Sun Haven, I had to find out if it would work on my Steam Deck. While there are countless other games on the market that fall into the “cozy, adorable farm sim” category, there are a few that just stick above the crowd due to some of the features hiding inside. Taking more than a few notes from the Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley’s of the world, Sun Haven gives players the chance to farm on the fly while also using magic and searching for dragons. It’s super fun, but can you take it on the go on your next road trip?

Can You Play Sun Haven With A Controller?

The long and short of it is: yes, Sun Haven has controller support. But the official controller support is a little lackluster, to say the least. You’ll have full control over every aspect of the game, but some parts of the layout just don’t make much sense. Thankfully, no matter if you are playing on Steam on your computer or playing on Steam Deck, you can always remap the controls to make them fit your exact specifications.

There is an official Layout for Sun Haven, which is selected as the default when you’re playing. But, with some weird twists like using the triggers instead of the bumpers to go through your inventory, you may want to swap a few things around before you sit down and spend a few extra hours of your life tending to your fancy tomatoes.

What is The Best Control Scheme For Sun Haven on Steam Deck?

While the default layout works okay for what you need it to do, there are a few features that seem to be missing. Since Sun Haven is still in Early Access, meaning that there is still work to be done on it before it hits the full release point, there are plenty of community layouts that work well to make the game control better on your portable powerhouse. The layout I personally recommend is Sun Haven (Full Accessibility)” by Alisa.

If you’re looking to change your layout, just click the small controller icon before you launch your game, and you’ll want to search for that particular layout. I promise you won’t be disappointed when you can utilize everything that needs to be done without any compromises. While Sun Haven can be a little cumbersome to control with the official layout, this custom control scheme makes the game hang with the best of them.

No matter if you’re looking for a great game to play with your Significant Other, or just want a new game to sink countless hours into, Sun Haven could be the perfect new game for you to jump into. Just make sure that you change up the controls a little before you jump into this exciting new world.
