Pirates can't use magic

Hogwarts Legacy has been raising lots of eyebrows in the last few days when its imminent release was close to happening in early 2023. Denuvo is the most efficient anti-cheating technology implemented in many games, and one of the biggest reasons for the declining game piracy in the latest years. The company offers powerful anti-tampering protection, and games that have Denuvo will take months before they can be cracked. This will also be the case with this Wizarding World adventure game.

Yes, Hogwarts Legacy has Denuvo as it has been confirmed by Warner Bros. in January 2023. This can be seen on the game’s Steam official page, which contains the Denuvo Anti-Tampering label. The game was cracked roughly a month after its release, but developers haven’t positioned themselves on whether they should or shouldn’t remove their anti-piracy protection, which allegedly makes the game run worse on PCs.

Buying the game or not has been a discussion point for weeks as it could mean supporting J.K Rowling’s extremist opinions and lending her your money, so playing cracked versions has been an alternative for people supporting the boycott, but still want to enjoy this game.

Denuvo games are definitely not 100% tamperproof, but it takes a lot more than usual for figuring out how to do it. It just happened that Hogwarts Legacy got some kind of special treatment on the piracy scene and was cracked despite having strong protection.

Hogwarts Legacy is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, Nintendo Switch, and, of course, PC. Take a look at how to get early access to the game.
