Does FMJ Increase Damage in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

FMJ, or Full Metal Jacket, is a perk that some might recognize if they’re familiar with the Deep Impact perk from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The point of FMJ is that it will allow for greater penetration on bullets when fired. This means that it’s easier for your bullets to fire through various surfaces and that they’ll lose less damage when this happens. It also has an effect on equipment in-game.

The official tagline for FMJ is that it increases bullet penetration and damage against equipment and killstreaks. If you’ve been tasked with knocking out enemy equipment (turrets and the like), then this will probably be useful. However, you’ll also note that from the tagline and from the way that the perk has been described, it doesn’t actually affect the damage that you do to players in your matches. Sure, it means that you can shoot through cover and hit someone, increasing your chances of being able to damage a player but it won’t actually increase any damage done to players.

Now that you know if FMJ increases damage in Modern Warfare or not, hopefully, you’ll be able to narrow down your selection of options when it comes to what goes into your loadout.
