Dragons Dogma 2 Coop Feature

Does Dragon’s Dogma 2 Have Co-Op? – Answered

Your only pal is your pawn

Multiplayer gaming has been the norm for many games recently, including sequels to previously single-player-only titles. So can we expect Dragon’s Dogma 2 to follow this trend and add a co-op multiplayer mode so friends can explore this vast world together?

Is There Co-Op in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is confirmed to not have co-op at all. Just like its predecessor, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is exclusively a single-player game where you can recruit AI-controlled allies known as Pawns to help you in battle, but you can’t bring your actual flesh and blood friends to your game, so these not-so-real friends will have to do.

This can be confirmed on the game’s Steam page, which specifically lists it as single-player only. Some of the game’s trailers have also mentioned that one of the main goals for this sequel is to improve on what the first game has managed to build. And the first Dragon’s Dogma was envisioned as a single-player game, so that’s how things are going to stay.

But the game does feature a semi-multiplayer feature, which is why the PlayStation version marks it with “online play optional”. Players can use online features to hire already-built Pawns from their friends, which will most likely be stronger than the regular ones you can find around. This is as far as you can go with “playing with someone else” in the game, but it definitely makes for an interesting addition to the system.

While you can’t directly play alongside your friends, their Pawns will aid you in your journey. You can even say that your friends are with you in spirit! Okay, not really, but you get the point. This is the closest thing to co-op we’ll be seeing. These online perks are still fully optional, so at the very least you won’t be facing any server issues with the game once you download it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is releasing on March 21, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and there’s still a small chance that we see a Demo for the game in the days ahead of its release.
