Completing the main story in BG3 will take most players around 80 hours to get through, and after hours of choices upon choices, you likely want to see how your story ended through an epilogue. In this guide, we’ll go over whether there is an BG3 epilogue or not.

Is There an Epilogue in Baldur’s Gate 3?

As of Patch 5 on 11/30/2023, there is a playable epilogue available in Baldur’s Gate 3! More on that below.

Before this patch, BG3 epilogue rumors were swirling around on Reddit. And it was all but confirmed that some content may have been removed or cut during the development period. What we have right now for endings in BG3 is certainly a far cry from 17,000 variations in endings that a BG3 originally reported.

After the credits roll, there is only one final scene that we would describe more as a post-credit snippet rather than an epilogue.

Warning:

Spoilers for end-game scenes ahead!

In the scene, Withers is simply speaking to a mural of the dead three Gods: Myrkul, Bane, and Bhaal. He simply mocks them for overestimating themselves and relying on a foiled plot. But after that scene ends, you are brought back to the main menu. What you see at the end of the main battle is the extent of what you learn about the outcomes of each character.

Other Post-Game Scenes

Following the main concluding scene, there’s a possibility of a few brief additional scenes. Typically, the player character will share a short scene with any romanced companion. Withers will have a scene as previously described. And if a deal was made with Raphael, he will be featured in a short scene offering hints about his future plans to invade other realms. Alternatively, early endings can be attained by allowing Gale to sacrifice himself, either resulting in the demise of the entire party alongside the Absolute’s Chosen at the end of the second act, or by destroying the Elder Brain in the final battle.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5: A New Epilogue

The new epilogue released by Larian Studios on November 30th is described as an interactive additional chapter that is a complete culmination of all your decisions and choices.

What to Expect in the New BG3 Epilogue

Set at High Hall’s camp overlooking the city, this playable BG3 epilogue takes place six months after the main story’s events. Unlock this by loading the game before the final fight.

Crafted by Larian’s writers, this “final goodbye” is intricately woven, leveraging Baldur’s Gate 3’s reactivity across the entire adventure. The epilogue features new cinematics mirroring your story’s arc, reunions with companions, reminiscing, reading letters from old friends, and staying updated with Baldur’s Gate news through the Baldur’s Mouth Gazette. The concluding scene aims to provide closure to your personal narrative, offering a tender moment to reflect on the past six months as a team and bid farewell before the credits roll.

The finale includes new music by Bobby, introduces new faces at camp, and presents a special cinematic ending for Gale and Lae’zel based on your choices throughout the journey. While happy endings aren’t guaranteed, this concluding scene is designed to bring a sense of closure to your unique story.

Some other fun perks include a new outfit for Shadowheart, and the ability to pick up and wear Orin’s outfit.

With a BG3 epilogue released, it’s more important than ever to gather all your allies in Baldur’s Gate 3.
