Age of Mythology: Retold isn’t just coming to PCs but consoles as well. It is similar to the last few definitive editions, as well as Age of Empires IV. The developers have done a great job of making these complex RTS titles work well with controllers, but both Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition and Age of Empires IV actually support keyboard and mouse on consoles as well. However, is the upcoming Age of Mythology: Retold playable with a keyboard and mouse on consoles? Here is everything you need to know.
Can You Play Age of Mythology: Retold With Keyboard and Mouse on Consoles?
Yes, you can play Age of Mythology: Retold with keyboard and mouse on Xbox Series S|X.
This was officially confirmed in the FAQ shared by the developers.
This is great for fans who are used to playing strategy games on a keyboard and mouse because while controller support is great, it can be pretty difficult to adjust to if you aren’t used to the scheme. It’s just easier to manage things with a mouse, especially in RTS titles.
While an official list of supported peripherals isn’t provided, we’re assuming most products should work fine with little tweaking. The support should be similar to what was available in Age of Empires 2: Defintive Edition and Age of Empires IV. We will likely see more details about this support near release.
Age of Mythology: Retold is coming to PC and Xbox Series S|X on September 4, 2024. The standard edition will be available on day one on Game Pass for PC and consoles.
In addition to this additional input support, the developers have also confirmed crossplay for multiplayer. If you’re interested in the PC version, we recommend checking out the official system requirements, and how you can play a week early.
