Age of Mythology: Retold is a faithful remake of the classic 2002 release with overhauled visuals, plenty of quality-of-life improvements, and console support. The PC version has tons of settings to customize, and it looks gorgeous on larger screens. Developer Forgotten Worlds has made it quite easy to create and install mods in their previous definitive editions of the Age of Empires franchise. However, does that mod support continue with Age of Mythology: Retold? Here is everything you need to know.
Does Age of Mythology Retold Have Mod Support?
Yes, Age of Mythology: Retold has official mod support, and players can create their mods using the Scenario Editor.
Similar to previous Age of Empire releases, players can access mods at the mods section on the dedicated website for the franchise. Players can then subscribe to the mod they like, and it will be added to their game. Signing in to the website is required, of course.
Players can check mods they have subscribed to and how well their own mods are doing as well. Players can also filter mods from different categories to view specific mod types as well.
Currently, the most popular mod restores the original voice acting, followed by a mod that adjusts the UI to maintain the placement of the original release. You can check out the voice-acting mod in action below:
The game still isn’t out for standard edition owners at the time of writing, and we’ll likely see way more mods in the coming weeks.
Overall, Forgotten Worlds has done a great job of making the process of acquiring and creating mods painless. It’s not as simple as Steam Workshop, but pretty close. It’s great to see this feature being implemented from day one, allowing players to tweak their game further.
