Update: Howdy folks! It’s 2022 and Diablo IV now has a release date for real. Or at least it does as of The Game Awards, which aired a new trailer ending with the new date. Currently, Diablo IV is aimed at a June 6, 2023 release date.

Now, on the same day of this announcement, the Washington Post published a story alleging some serious crunch going down at Activision Blizzard on Diablo IV, and a bunch of people panicking about this release date. So we’ll see how this plays out.

Blizzcon 2019 was a fascinating time for fans of Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo franchise. The reasoning for this excitement was the official reveal of entry IV in the fan-favorite series. This new installment will see Blizzard take the franchise back to its dark and more mature roots in what should be another exciting adventure for players to experience. Naturally, players have been inquisitive regarding what the release date for this new title will be. Unfortunately, individuals who were hoping to experience the upcoming title shortly will not be able to do so. According to a report by Forbes, Game Director Luis Barriga explained during Blizzcon 2019 that “a game of this scope takes time. We’re not coming out soon, not even Blizzard soon.”

However, no one wants a rushed release date where the game is made available before it is ready. At least the community knows for sure that Blizzard is all in when it comes to delivering the next chapter in its popular series.
