On April 9, Bungie held their long-awaited livestream that previewed upcoming content in The Final Shape. Along with a new subclass called Prismatic and new buildcrafting opportunities, Bungie also revealed a brand new enemy race that would be entering the Destiny universe…The Dread.
Here’s everything we know about The Dread and how they’ll fit into The Final Shape when it releases on June 4.
Who Are “The Dread” In Destiny 2?
Following the release of Lightfall in February 2023, Bungie teased Guardians with a first glimpse of The Dread in Destiny 2 in the form of Subjugators and Tormentors. However, this was just the beginning.
During The Final Shape preview livestream, Bungie revealed three new types of enemies belonging to the Dread that all appear to have different abilities, forcing Guardians to adapt. These enemy types are The Grim, The Husk, and Attendant and Weavers.
The Grim
According to Bungie The Grim are the first enemies that you’ll face in Destiny that can fly. Essentially, there are oversized bats that carry weapons. They will often screech at players, suppressing their abilities and slowing them down if they are unfortunate enough to be hit.
The Husk
Husks, on the other hand, are melee bruisers with dangerous and potent blades. These enemies typically move in groups and can perform acrobatic jumps and moves which may make them problematic if they get too close. According to Bungie, “they hurt…”.
If players kill Husks in the wrong fashion, geists from inside the husk can seek out players and explode when in close proximity.
Attendants and Weavers
These enemies can wield the elements of Strand and Stasis and have been reshaped and contrived by Destiny 2’s main antagonist, The Witness.
Weavers are able to release a powerful Stand wave that pulls players towards them while Attendants can fire a Stasis blast that slows and freezes players upon impact.
Even though these enemies may sound menacing, the introduction of the new Prismatic subclass will surely allow players to develop builds and cadences that should be able to take on these new foes in Destiny 2.
