Destiny 2 Error Code Chicken: What Is It and How to Fix It

If you’ve been encountering the Destiny 2 error code Chicken, then it may very well be a problem that you’ve been plagued with for a few days. Compared to other system and game errors, this one can hang around for a little bit longer, gating all wannabe Guardians from carrying out their duty.

By Bungie’s estimation and according to their community help forums, the error code Chicken generally means that a player has lost their connection to the servers. This will impact your ability to access your character, naturally, and therefore your ability to actually play the game. It seems like a number of PC players have been encountering this error, though there hasn’t been an official reason given for this.

The fix for the Chicken error code as per Bungie’s advice essentially boils down to the following:

  • Favoring a wired connection
  • Clearing the Console Cache or the download cache for Steam users
  • Using their Networking Troubleshooting Guide if the code persists
  • Power cycling the main router/modem that a player is using

We also suspect that there have been some issues with this error code because of the way that the services were brought offline a few hours ago for emergency maintenance, so we wouldn’t automatically assume that it’s the end of the world just because you’re unable to connect to the servers and/or experiencing this Destiny 2 Error Code Chicken.

It looks like maintenance is now complete, so players should be able to enter the queue upon logging in, and the recent hotfix that has been made available might take care of other error codes that you’ve been experiencing.

Following Bungie’s advice and waiting out the last dregs of any issues to be cleared up by the latest hotfix patch should be your ticket to getting back onto the moon in no time!
