Death Must Die is one of the coolest rogue-lite games I’ve seen recently, and despite offering just a handful of characters at the moment, they cover most of the playstyles you would imagine existing in such a game. Here is our best character tier list in Death Must Die.
Who are the Best Characters in Death Must Die?
It’s a tough choice, and I reckon that some players won’t like this tier list, but this is how I experienced the game, and while there are no garbage characters in the game, some clearly come out on top.
S Tier
Nixi
I found that Nixi is the most busted out of the current characters. Absurd amounts of damage, mobility, and damage evasion make her pretty easy to abuse and achieve the rarest achievements.
A Tier
Merris
Merris is a pretty nice glass cannon, and after Nixi, I’ve had the most fun with Merris. The “glass cannon” aspect is easily mitigated by pumping out more and more damage. Offense is the best defense; if they can’t reach you, they can’t attack you, and they can’t kill you.
Kront
Kront is the Barbarian of the group, the unstoppable killing machine that doesn’t immediately seem like a great choice. When you get enough items and signs, you’ll be able to experience Kront’s full power.
B Tier
Skadi
A brave warrior with a long, two-handed sword is a pretty decent character in Death Must Die, but that’s all it is. Sadly, Kront is a much more efficient melee combat character, but Skadi is at least better than Avoron!
Avoron
Avoron is the starting character in Death Must Die and, sadly, while having some impressive tank capabilities, I do not find that impressive in particular. Avoron lacks damage, and you’re in for a grueling fight of attrition every time you play Avoron. The moment I unlocked Merris, the game became much more amusing.
