How to Complete It Came From Monarch Studios in Dead Island 2

To kick off It Came from Monarch Studios, you’ll first need to complete the quest The Giant-Slayer in Venice Beach, an unskippable campaign mission. With the giant slayed, head back to the Blue Crab restaurant and make a beeline to the radio near the fast travel map. The radio will be going off, and you can interact with it to talk with Sarah to learn about her situation.

Dead Island 2 has no shortage of references scattered throughout the game. Pretty much the entirety of this world is a parody of the one we all know, love, and live in. But c’mon! The lady handing this quest to us is Sarah Sheppard? And she plays as Captain Vixen? Like Commander Shephard and Fox McCloud? Both captains in space? Moving on.

Here’s the succinct list of all the steps you’ll encounter, and I’ll dive into a fuller walkthrough below.

  • Beam down to Monarch Studios.
  • Scan the gas station set for signs of life.
  • Hostile infestation! Kill ‘em all!
  • Tell Sarah Sheppard that you come in peace.
  • Take DD-09 and explore Sound Stage 3 for signs of Sebastian.
  • Red alert! DD-09 has spooked the zombies!
  • Take DD-09 along on your continuing mission to find Sebastian.
  • Defend Sebastian from the invading “body snatchers.”
  • Hail Sebastian on all frequencies.

Beam Down to Monarch Studios

Head to Monarch Studio using the fast travel point beside the radio. Doing so will put you close to where Sarah is. Stroll on through the doors to the gas station. You’ll find that our quest giver, Sarah, has been treed like a cat on Emma Jaunt’s trailer. So, let’s save her. But before we do, it’s a good idea to equip a non-flame-oriented curve ball and a weapon that does electric damage.

Hostile Infestation! Kill ‘em all!

There are quite a few hostile zombies in the arena where we fought Alesis. And pretty much all of them are Firefighters, Burning Runners, and Incendiary Walkers. And naturally, there’s one lone Inferno Crusher.

If you’re like me, you immediately went to slam the Spider Venom FX… but it looks like the venom’s all run out. It’s just water now, which is good in that it keeps the Inferno Crusher from being, well, an Inferno. It also helps keep everyone nice and soggy, letting electric weapons and Electro Shuriken do good work. Defeat the zombie hoard, then approach the trailer where Sheppard is standing.

Tell Sarah Sheppard That You Come in Peace

With all the enemies done, Sarah will begrudgingly admit she’s impressed. Speak to her, and she’ll tell you she’s looking for Sebastian. A skinny kid who’s very creative… and missing. So, let’s hunt him down.

Take DD-09 and Explore Sound Stage 3

Pick up the duffle bag beside the trailer, which contains DD-09. Despite the fact that we can easily carry eight weapons on us, never mind an entire arts and crafts store worth of materials, we can’t wield a weapon while carrying DD-09.

So, if you get into a tight spot, drop it and pick it up again once the zombies are clear. Fortunately, we don’t have to go very far to get to Studio 3. Go through the gate, and you’ll see it to your left. We’ll be heading across Shutterbug Ave.

Red Alert! DD-09 Has Spooked the Zombies!

The moment we step into Studio 3, DD-09 will let off a series of beeps that will alert all the zombies in the vicinity. Drop the bag, and the zombies will mostly swarm DD, which will take no damage. It’s kind of like a meat bomb.

Use this to your advantage by putting DD in areas where you can set up an elemental trap. Like, on a pool of water, a gasoline canister, or an electrified piece of the floor. Then clear out the zombies like usual.

Take DD-09 Along on Your Continuing Mission to Find Sebastian

Once the zombies are all dead, you’ll come to the firm but sad conclusion that the kid you’re looking for isn’t in Studio 3. Normally, you’d begin scouring the Monarch Studio stages, trying to find hide or hair of him. But you’re reading a guide, so let’s save everyone some time.

He’s outside of Sound Stage 6.

To get there, take the left door in Stage 3, then turn right. We’ll want to go down Sinclair Street, then turn left on Hero’s Journey Lane. Continue past Sound Stage 5. Be careful as you head down this road, as there will be plenty of zombies to obstruct you.

Once you get to the end of the road, turn left. Sebastian will be on top of a lifted platform. And, naturally, the zombies will start swarming. Toss DD-09 into the nearby electrocuted puddle to distress Sebastian (but distract some brain munchers), then get killing.

And expect a pretty intense mob. Just like before, there are plenty of firefighters to resist your Molotov and fire-imbued weapons, but the Apex zombie you’ll be encountering is a Screamer. Personally, I found this to be an excellent place to grind out the Anger Management Achievement, which requires you to kill 50 zombies with Fury Attacks. There are enough zombies in this mob to get off Fury at least twice, so have fun with it.

Return DD-09 to Sebastian

Once the mobs are dead, pick up DD-09. If you threw him into the electrified puddle, there’s a nearby generator you can use to turn off the current. Then, take DD-09 to the small tool table below Sebastian and place it there.

Hail Sebastian on All Frequencies

With DD-09 now out of your possession, look up and speak to Sebastian. He’ll lob a half dozen questions at you. This kid is really in character! And to say thank you for helping Captain Vixen, he’ll give you the Cremator Zombie Axe, which has the rare Melee Cremator mod already built in! You’ll also unlock the Street Brawler Skill and get 3,000 XP. Nice.
