Can You Romance Multiple Characters in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The answer is yes, you can romance multiple characters in Baldur’s Gate 3… but some exclusions apply. Some characters, such as Karlach and Lae’zel, will be okay with an open relationship at first, but will want a monogamous relationship after Act One. Only certain Origin characters will agree to a polyamorous relationship in the long run, and under certain circumstances.

Which Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin Characters are Monogamous?

The Origin characters who will never accept a polyamorous relationship starting in Act Two under any circumstance are:

  • Gale
  • Karlach
  • Lae’zel
  • and Wyll.

Which Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin Characters will Agree to Polyamory?

The only Origin characters who will accept a polyamorous relationship are: 

  • Astarion
  • and Shadowheart.

There is a catch, however: Origin characters will not accept a polyamorous relationship with each other starting in Act Two. You will have to choose between Astarion and Shadowheart, even if you’re seeking a polyamorous relationship.

Which Baldur’s Gate 3 Characters Can You Romance at the Same Time?

The only Non-Origin companion who you can romance while also maintaining your relationship with either Astarion or Shadowheart is Halsin. Trying to start a romance with another Non-Origin Companion such as Minthara or Mizora will lead to Astarion or Shadowheart breaking off the relationship.

The following are the possible polyamorous relationships you can successfully maintain in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • You, Astarion, and Halsin
  • You, Shadowheart, and Halsin
