Can You Play as a Male in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora? – Answered

Gender can't hold you back

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has finally been released and players are quite curious about some of its character creator options. Most of the game’s marketing has been representing a female Na’vi as the playable character, but can you choose to play as a male?

Can You Play a Male Character in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora?

You can technically play a masculine character in Frontiers of Pandora. During the initial cutscenes, your voice (and possibly your body too, but we can’t see it yet) resembles more of a feminine character, just like in trailers and screenshots, but a masculine-sounding voice is available for you to choose during the customization sequence, as well as a masculine-oriented Na’vi body.

There are no gender or pronoun options to be found anywhere in customization and characters will usually refer to you with gender-neutral terms, so while there’s no “definitive” way of picking a male character, you can choose the most masculine-oriented body options and call it a day. The same thing works for “playing as female” as your character’s gender is not referred to in the story.

Choose the one that fits you or the story the best. Personally, I felt like a feminine character would fit the story and setting better, but still went with more masculine features because I enjoyed them more. The choice is all up to you, so just pick your favorite options to make your main character the best-looking blue person around the block.

Your deeds will tell more about you, so focus on those since this is the way of the Na’vi. You might end up gaining more respect among your clan if you do, and this will prove to be invaluable to you during your exploration of Pandora.
