Can You Pause Lies of P? – Answered

No mom, I can't pause a soulslike game

Lies of P Pause featured

Even though we enjoy action games, having unstoppable action at all times can be quite a hassle after a while. Lies of P barely give you moments of respite when you’re far from a Stargazer, so can we at least pause the game to take a breather once in a while?

Is There a Pause Option in Lies of P?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to pause Lies of P. While you’re opening the game’s menus, the whole world is still moving in the background, and this means that you can get hit and even die if you’re not properly stationed somewhere safe. You do have some workarounds, depending on your platform.

While PC players don’t have any direct way to momentarily stop their games, PlayStation 4 and 5 players can use the PS button on their controllers to make for a pseudo-pause on their games. Similarly, Xbox players have the Xbox button, which will do basically the same.

But there is no official method to pause the game without accounting for these, which aren’t exactly a pause. Not being pausable is a common feature (or lack of) in Soulslike games, which usually require your full attention at all times so you won’t die a horrible death. You will probably still die a few of these, but that’s just the usual gameplay loop.

As previously mentioned, you should always be safe near a Stargazer or inside safe havens such as Hotel Krat, where no enemies will ever be approaching you. Stargazers won’t be available if you draw enemies next to it (easy to do at the first Stargazer in front of Krat Station, for example), but you can touch them as soon as you get rid of the nearby opponents.

You can take your time to go to the bathroom or get some water while you’re here, if you don’t care about your in-game time accumulating quickly. These extra hours will be added to the New Game Plus if you decide to start one.
