Can You Make a Warhammer 40K: Darktide Private Lobby? – Answered

Sometimes you just want a little time alone with your friends.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a game all about teamwork, and two types of allies tend to hinder that a bit. Bots are simply just there to do what they’re coded to, though tend to fair quite poorly in higher ranks. Random players, on the other hand, are a dice roll as to how they’ll perform. With that, you may just want to play with a few friends without random players joining in, or solo with just bots to deal with. Here’s whether you can make a private lobby in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Can You Play Darktide in a Private Lobby

So we have some good news and some bad news. To get the bad news out of the way, at the time of writing you can’t start a private lobby with friends. You have to queue up and find a match with other players, or if you don’t find other players when queueing, random players can join in mid-match. Given the stage of the beta, this makes sense, though it’s still frustrating nonetheless.

The good news is that it’s 100% on the way. In the recent blog post for hotfix 1.0.6, the team discussed how they went to work putting in Dedicated Servers for the game, a much-requested feature for Vermintide that unfortunately wasn’t able to be implemented. Now that it’s in, the team is working to allow you to play both solos, and in private lobbies with friends.

This feature will be implemented in two stages, according to the blog post. Playing solo on a local server will become available either at launch on November 30 or through a patch not long after launch. Private lobbies, on the other hand, are planned to release later in December at some point. This might be after launch, and that alone is a tad upsetting, but you won’t have to wait too long.
