Can You Change Character Appearance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

Fix that karkin' hair, ye scum!

Fatshark’s newest release of their Warhammer game series comes with a surprising amount of character customization, especially compared to the previously released Vermintide. In Darktide, you’ll create a servant of the Emperor from the ground up; customizing faces, skin tones, hairstyles, tattoos, and much more. Though, like any game with robust character creation options, you’re probably wondering if there’s room for change, or if it’s all permanent. Maybe that mop on your head you call a hairstyle has gone out of season, or you’d like to cover up some embarrassing tattoos from the past. Can you change your character’s appearance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? We’ve got your answer below.

Can You Change Character Appearance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide?

Well, the answer is about as grey as the corridors of Tertium. Though not officially confirmed, it appears that you can change your character’s appearance – just not at this very moment.

In the hub area and across from the Weapons Dealer, you’ll spot an open room with NPCs inside. In the background, you’ll see several stations with barbershop-looking chairs, or cosmetic surgery terminals, whatever kind of grotesque technology they’ve got in the Warhammer 40K universe. Additionally, sometimes upon entering the room, you may see a very bugged-out dialogue box appear on your screen, which hints at it being some sort of area for changing your look, albeit consisting of nothing but technical game code jargon.

So, it’s safe to assume that you will be able to change your character’s appearance at some point, but it’s likely not ready for implementation just yet, as we’re still in the game’s beta period at the time of this writing. Perhaps we’ll get a glimpse of how this system works once Darktide is fully released on November 30. We’ll keep you updated.
