Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 provides you with 10 points to customize your load out in multiplayer, referred to as the Perk 10 System. Each point lets you acquire a weapon or piece of tactical equipment, though it comes with restrictions. Under normal circumstances you can only have two attachments per primary weapon, one attachment for a secondary weapon, one lethal piece of equipment (grenades, C4, trip mines), two tactical pieces of equipment and a maximum of three perks.
Wildcards allow you to break the Perk 10 System. Depending on the Wildcard, you may be able to carry two primary weapons and more than three perks. On the downside, each Wildcard costs a point. If you intend to use Wildcards, it’s important to take full advantage of their abilities. Otherwise you risk going into multiplayer matches without the necessary items to survive. Holding two primary weapons may seem like a great idea at first, but doing this may come at the expense of losing a secondary weapon or launcher. It’s important to spend these points wisely while at the same time eliminating things you don’t use. If you never rely on tactical equipment, for example, free up an additional point by nixing it from your arsenal.
Below is the complete list of Wildcards in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and the functions of each.
Greed
Black Ops 3 contains three categories filled with unique perks. Each Greed Wildcard lets you take a second perk from each category. So for example, you can select Afterburner to quickly recharge your thrusters and Flak Jacket to minimize damage taken from enemy explosives from the Perk 1 group. With the Perk 2 list, you can pair Tracker to see enemy footprints with Cold Blooded to avoid thermal optics and slip past ground-based Scorestreaks. Finally, match up Dead Silence to travel without making noise with Gung-Ho to hip fire while running in Perk Group 3. There are numerous combinations, but being too greedy may result in a severely limited load out.
Overkill
This lets you replace the secondary weapon slot with a primary weapon. If you’d prefer to carry an LMG and a sniper rifle, this is a great Wildcard to play.
Primary Gunfighter
This is a customization fan’s dream. You can break the limit of two primary attachments in exchange for five on a single weapon.
Secondary Gunfighter
Equip your secondary weapon with another attachment.
Tactician
Swap out your lethal grenade for a tactical grenade. Ditch the Frag for a Concussion, Flashbang or Shock Charge Grenade, among others.
Danger Close
Carry a second piece of lethal equipment. Maybe you want to have both C4 and Semtex, or a Frag Grenade and the Combat Axe. Mix it up.
