For those that may not know, the Mayhem Mode unlocks when players complete the main Borderlands 3 campaign. The unlocked mode then gives players a much more difficult challenge when taking to the wasteland, which offers an experience buff that is too enticing to miss out on.

Another improvement that the Mayhem Mode 2.0 update brings is that players don’t need to visit the pedestal on Sanctuary III anymore to activate this new mode, instead the option can now be found in the ECHO Device menu as a special tab for easier accessibility.

Easy modifiers are an easy asset to master such as the Big Kick Energy that increases weapon damage, recoil, and spread while the Galaxy Brain modifier increases the size of enemy heads for bigger hitboxes. Medium, Hard, and Very Hard modifiers adds different elements to the game as well, such as the Floor is Lava, which forces players to remain on the move at all times to avoid AOE.

Revenge of the Cartels Event Details

First and foremost, this event is totally free and runs from April 23 until June 4. It offers a brand new area, new enemies, new challenges, and a ton of loot for players to grind it out for including – but not limited to – Anointments and Legendaries.

Gearbox tells us about the new event, “In his continued studies of human customs, your Saurian crewmate Maurice has gotten himself mixed up with the wrong crowd, and now finds himself indebted to Joey Ultraviolet, the kingpin of the Eridium Cartel. To save Maurice’s scaly hide, you’ll need to take the fight to Joey and his gangs of underlings at Villa Ultraviolet, an opulent hideout overlooking a tropical paradise.”

When players first launch into the Revenge of the Cartels event, there will be a repeatable quest that they must first take on from Maurice. This quest can be found on Sanctuary III. Completing this step is vital in order to make it to Villa Ultraviolet and to take the fight directly to the newly-neon’d enemy.

Revenge of the Cartel Enemies

Once players have successfully maneuvered their way into Villa Ultraviolet, they will be faced with hordes of Eridium Cartel members that have 3 separate gang factions:

  • CryptoSec
  • The Burnt Ends
  • The Purpatrators

Each faction has a particular Underboss that players will need to take out before taking the fight to Joy Ultraviolet himself. Taking out these powerful foes offers Vault Hunters powerful loot in exchange for their defeat, which makes taking this particular event on numerous times in succession incredibly valuable when hunting for new and improved gear.

Revenge of the Cartel Seasonal Rewards

Like with all events, seasonal rewards will be given to players that are dedicated to the latest content drop. Players will also be able to track their progress through their ECHO device for those wanting to pay special close attention to where they are at in terms of unlocking shiny new cosmetics.

Here is the breakdown:

3 Challenges

VECH-tor Graphics ECHO Device skin

6 Challenges

Retro Outrunner Weapon trinket

10 Challenges

Framed Firewall Room Decoration

14 Challenges

Hotline Pandora Vault Hunter Head

18 Challenges
