Treyarch and Raven Software have officially announced their latest upcoming first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and it’s a massive surprise. Black Ops 6 debuts in a couple of months and comes with a bunch of features almost everyone’s going to love. Here’s what you need to know.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Release Date Announced
Black Ops 6 is coming to PC via Steam and Battle.net, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on October 25, 2024. Black Ops 6 “is a spy action thriller set in the early 1990s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.”
Black Ops 6 Gameplay and Modes
The game will feature a campaign, multiplayer, and zombie mode for players to relish. The campaign takes players back to the early 1990s when the US government had become one of the strongest nations. In this story, players will get to explore conspiracies and uncover secrets within the US government. The entire narrative will bring back the series to the old days when Black Ops’ storyline focused more on “mind-bending psychological revelations” and unfathomable truths.
The multiplayer mode offers 16 brand-new maps on day one for players to enjoy. These maps include 12 core six-versus-six arenas and four small-sized Strike battlegrounds. There’s a lot for players to discover in multiplayer that Black Ops 6 has improved significantly. For example, the game has improved movement mechanics, increased enemy hit zones, more gear to equip, better HUD optimizations, and the return of Theater Mode and Classic Prestige.
Last but not least, Black Ops 6’s zombie mode will feature the return of Round-Based Zombies—a mode where players will take down hordes of the undead. “Players can expect two brand-new maps at launch, and an impressive number of secrets to discover.”
Black Ops 6 Download and What to Expect
Treyarch and Raven Software’s blog post about the release of Black Ops 6 scared the community over the game’s alleged download size, which was later confirmed not to be true. The originally published size was a staggering 300GB, but that was revealed to be a combined download of “Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Warzone and all relevant content packs, including all localized languages combined which is not representative of a typical player install experience.”
While the developers didn’t unveil the actual download size, it’ll likely be between 100-200GB which is significantly less. The previous Black Ops 5 game required more than 130GB of storage, so it’s safe to assume Black Ops 6 will be roughly around the same number, if not more.
And that’s all. For more details about the smaller stuff in Black Ops 6, head to Treyarch and Raven Software’s official blog post. Again, Black Ops 6 launches on all platforms on October 25, 2024. More information about the game will be revealed closer to launch.
