How Trade Codes Work in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

To start a trade:

  • Head to your Poke Portal.
  • Press your “L” button if you’re not connected to the internet, then head to Link Trade.
  • Input one of the codes below, then select Begin Search.

You may have to wait a bit, but eventually, you’ll be connected to someone using the same code listed below. They’ll expect you to trade one of the two Pokemon listed by the code. So, if you input 0001-0004, you should offer either Fuecoco or Sprigatito.

But if you’re both offering the same Pokemon (for example, you both have Fuecoco, but you’re both looking for Sprigatito), leave and use the code again to try to match with a new partner. Sometimes, you might match with the same person multiple times. You haven’t done anything wrong; it’s just bad luck. I recommend waiting a few minutes when this happens.

While it can be time-consuming, especially if you have Violet, this method will eventually get you a complete Pokedex!
