Thymesia, the new Soulsborne RPG from Overborder Games, introduces a unique mechanic that allows the player character, Corvus, to use his plague energy to conjure magic weapons, which can be “reaved” from enemies to give them a taste of their own medicine, or looted from the fallen foes as shards to be crafted for Corvus’ own plague weapon arsenal. While all of the 21 plague weapons have value for a variety of builds, and each can be useful in their own way, this guide will detail the top ten plague weapons that you should be using in Thymesia and should be prioritized for upgrading.
10. Scythe
While the Scythe is somewhat unwieldy, you will not find a cooler-looking weapon in all of Hermes Kingdom. Aside from its solid damage, the Scythe has the bonus effect of granting Corvus minor health regeneration when it connects with a foe and is very easily upgradable with plentiful shards that can be looted from enemies throughout the Royal Garden. The scythe will definitely leave Corvus’ foes fearing the reaper.
9. Knife
The knife is an unassuming plague weapon, but its ability to drain enemy wounds is what makes it one of the better early-game armaments. Unlike most plague weapons that only wound enemies, the knife’s ability to eviscerate opponents’ green “wound” health bar makes it a deadly combination when used in conjunction with Corvus’ saber. Also, with many enemies using the knife in the Sea of Trees, it becomes a weapon that can be quickly upgraded with its many findable shards.
8. Miasma
While not so much of a weapon as a magical ability, it seems likely that Miasma will be the speedrunner’s plague weapon of choice, as for 30 seconds it provides Corvus with infinite dodging, turning him into a gas cloud. This will be an asset to players who want to quickly traverse levels, navigate from beacon to beacon with ease, and sneak past Hermes Kingdom’s most aggressive enemies. Miasma dust can be an effective tool in the God of the Fools boss fight, aiding in quick navigation through the many gas clouds and enemies. However, Miasma’s high plague energy cost prevents it from being any higher on the list. This useful ability can be obtained by defeating Odur in the first level of the Sea of Trees, and can only be fully upgraded by farming his boss fight many times.
7. Blood Storm
Blood Storm acts as a secondary potion, that sacrifices energy to restore Corvus’ health by 200 points. For Plague builds, Blood Storm can be useful when going up against Thymesia’s toughest bosses if you need just a little bit more health to outlast an adversary when you’ve run out of potions. Blood Storm can be found from looting The Hanged Queen, and is only upgradable by farming The Hanged Queen’s boss fight.
6. Halberd
The Halberd is another early-game weapon that can be reaved from many enemies in the Sea of Trees, and many of the other locations in Hermes Kingdom for that matter. While its un-upgraded version only does a powerful jab attack, a fully upgraded Halberd can be whirled around with a large sweep attack, that knocks enemies to the ground making it among the best crowd control weapons in Thymesia. This will probably be one of the first plague weapons that you will fully upgrade in Corvus’ armory.

5. Handaxe
The Handaxe is the best early-game weapon in Thymesia because, despite its low energy cost, it still packs a punch, and is a powerful tool for facing the game’s first boss, Odur. Many enemies in the Sea of Trees wield axes, which makes the Handaxe an easier weapon to upgrade with the fallen foes’ weapon shards, and this is definitely a weapon worth upgrading because its improved version allows Corvus to throw the axe in a God of War, Kratos-like ranged attack. While not as legendary as Kratos’ Leviathan Axe, Corvus’ Handaxe is definitely one of Thymesia’s better weapons.
4. Mutated Tentacles
After defeating Mutated Odur in the Sea of Trees – Mutated Odur Sub Quest, Corvus gains the ability to conjure tentacles that can slam into groups of enemies in front of him. With a low 75 Energy cost, the Lovecraftian weapon serves as a crowd control specialist and is probably the most fun plague power featured in the entire game. Unfortunately, since it can only be upgraded by farming the Mutated Odur boss fight, and that boss fight may not be explored by some players until much later in Thymesia’s questline, it’s hard to put the Mutated Tentacles any higher on this list.
3. Greatsword
Another name for this weapon could be “Mini-boss Bane,” as the massive Greatsword can absolutely pummel Thymesia’s most annoying elite enemies, putting them on the ground with one swing, interrupting their attacks. Similar to the Mutated Tentacles, it also works great as a crowd control weapon against large groups. However, unfortunately, the Greatsword is not particularly useful against the game’s toughest bosses, as despite its powerful damage output, the powerful blade is just too slow against fast enemies. The earliest and easiest location that this weapon can be found is in the Royal Garden’s first level by slaying the Greatsword swinging mini-boss, as well as in various Sub Quests and main locations throughout Hermes Kingdom.
2. Twin Swords
The Twin Swords give Corvus the ability to perform a flurry of vicious strikes on his foes, slicing and dicing with dual-wield blades. While The Twin Swords are powerful on their own, when used in tandem with vitality builds and the Long-lasting potion, it creates an unstoppable meta trifecta, allowing Corvus to deal massive damage to enemies without being at any risk of death. The Twin Swords are indispensable when facing bosses like Urd and the Hanged Queen. The earliest this weapon can be found is in the Royal Garden’s first level, but can also be reaved and farmed in a variety of locations and Sub Quests.

1. Bow
Thymesia’s Bow Plague Weapon is almost a cheat code. It provides significant damage to foes at the meager price of 50 plague energy. The Bow also keeps Corvus safely out of harm’s way, allowing him to drain enemy health bars one by one from afar, which makes it an essential weapon when going up against Thymesia’s toughest bosses. The bow even becomes better when upgraded, as it allows Corvus to fire two arrows in rapid succession, lowers the energy cost to 40, and keeps enemy wounds open. This weapon is a must-upgrade, which can easily be done by defeating archers in the Royal Garden and Hermes Fortress’ various locations. The bow truly reigns supreme among Corvus’ arsenal, as there is simply no better Plague Weapon that can be found in all of Hermes Kingdom.
