With the arrival of Lightfall, we’ve seen a huge jump in the pest population. I’m talking, of course, about Champions. They’re practically everywhere, from Defiant Battlegrounds to Raids. But is there a way to kill a bunch of them quickly? Yeah, there is. Here are the best places to farm Barrier Champions in Destiny 2.

Best Places to Farm Barrier Champions in Destiny 2
If you’re like 90% of the Destiny 2 community, you probably have a big ol’ 6 floating beside your nameplate. The six denotes your “experience” in the game, and no, it doesn’t take your hundreds (if not thousands) of hours into account. Only activities which involve things like, “Talk to Saint-14 about Trials of Osiris, or, if you’re trying to get to Level 7, stunning Barrier Champions.
And Barrier Champions are an absolute pain to find and farm, especially if you haven’t done much in endgame activity. Fortunately, there are a few methods to both finding and killing them reliably.
The Best Build for Stunning Barrier Champions
So, it’s important to note we don’t need to kill Barrier Champions; we just need to Stun them. And yes, you can stun one Barrier Champion multiple times, which I recommend doing to get this challenge out of the way ASAP.
As for what can stun a Barrier Champion, you have these options:
- Barrier anti-Champion Artifact mods
- Intrinsic Barrier anti-Champion weapons, including Wish-Ender, Arbalest, The Lament, and Eriana’s Vow
- Solar Radiant abilities
- Void Volatile rounds
- Strand Unraveling rounds
For Season 20, you have the option of making Pulse Rifles and Sidearms Barrier poppers. If you have a Pulse Rifle you really love, go for it. But I would recommend the Arbalest, as its Exotic Trait allows it to pop bubbles with ease.

Next, you’ll want to equip the Special Ammo Finder mod on your helmet, which will spawn a brick of Special Ammo on kill after you reach 100% Counter Progress.
Next, opt for a class that offers Radiant damage. For Warlocks, that might be Well of Radiance, Hunters with Lightweight Throwing Knives, or the Ember of Torches Solar Fragment. This is just a backup, in case you can’t find Special Ammo. You’ll also want a weapon (that uses normal ammo, ideally), that can whittle away at least a third of the Barrier Champion’s HP. Once it loses a third of its health, it will conjure up the bubble you need to pop.
Now that you’re kitted, let’s find some Barrier Champions.
Legend Lost Sectors
Legend Lost Sectors are easily the best place to farm out Champions of all types. The only issue? There are almost never three different types of Champions within. Usually, you’ll see some combination of Barrier and Overload, Barrier and Unstoppable, and Overload and Unstoppable.
This combination changes each day, so it’s a good idea to check out your local Legend Lost Sector and see what’s available. There’s almost always a Champion within the first few minutes of the Lost Sector.

Nightfall
A little less effective than Legend Lost Sectors is Nightfall because you have to deal with other people. If you’re attempting to farm out Barrier Champions and need to stun them, you’ll be competing with your fireteam, who are likely prioritizing speed and efficiency over everything else. Frequently, Barrier Champions will be killed before they can even create a bubble.
For that reason, it’s a good idea to go into a Nightfall with people you know or people you’re willing to talk to. Most Guardians are chill enough to let you take down the Champions if you ask.
That being said, most Nightfalls have around 10 total champions, with a minimum of two per type. The Inverted Spire has two Overload Champions, three Unstoppable Champions, and five Barrier Champions, for example. If you don’t mind running these Nightfalls multiple times, it’s a good way to farm them out.
A Grandmaster Nightfall has even more Champions but only two types. The Corrupted, for example, has eight Overload Champions and ten Unstoppable Champions.
Other Options
If Legend Lost Sectors and Nightfalls don’t strike your fancy, other options are high-level Empire Hunts and Raids. There are quite a few Champions in the first encounter of the Root of Nightmares Raid, and your team will love you if you kill them quickly.
