Defense wins championships, but most people want to dunk in each other’s faces and hit three-point shots in NBA 2K15. Denying someone at the rim or pulling down rebounds are keys to victory, but we prefer to imagine the virtual fans receiving free tacos when our team cracks 100, which is admittedly tough to do in a simulation heavy basketball game. With this in mind, take your offense to the next level with these current NBA squads.

10. Toronto Raptors

After the heartbreaking loss to the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of last season’s playoffs, the Raptors are ready to do great things in 2014/2015.  Guard Kyle Lowry should get off to a hot start, while DeMar DeRozan made a habit of pulling off amazing shots. If you need scoring from someone else, look at guard Greivis Vasquez and center Jonas Valanciunas.

9. Washington Wizards

The Wizards went from NBA punching bag to a team no one wants to face, thanks to explosive guards John Wall and Bradley Beal.  If someone shuts down these guys, you always have reliable veteran Paul Pierce hanging out in three-point land, and center Marcin Gortat is shockingly reliable.

8. Oklahoma City Thunder

Kevin Durant is on the cover, so you know he’s next to unstoppable despite the real KD fracturing his foot.  Should your opponent double team, kick the ball out to his wingman Russell Westbrook. Serge Ibaka will help control the paint alongside Nick Collison, and when all else fails, call opportunity starved Reggie Jackson’s number.

7. Chicago Bulls

We love this team so long as injury prone point guard Derrick Rose remains on the floor. Yes he scores at will, but the addition of Pau Gasol gives Rose a huge target in the paint. In addition, opponents can’t leave Aaron Brooks, Mike Dunleavy and Jimmy Butler open or you’ll make them pay with a dagger three.

6. Dallas Mavericks

Welcome to Dallas, Chandler Parsons!  The newest Mav joins a stacked offensive team featuring the likes of an aging but still nasty Dirk Nowitski, with Monta Ellis capable of going off. These are your primary threats, with Jameer Nelson, Raymond Felton and Devin Harris capable of nailing a big shot. In the end, put the ball in Dirk’s hands and rely on his clutch heroics.

5. Houston Rockets

The bearded one, James Harden, is one of the most explosive players in the NBA, capable of putting up in excess of 25 points without warning. Should he miss, center Dwight Howard will be there for the put back, while the addition of Jason Terry gives Houston added punch from the outside.  That said, don’t fool yourself into thinking this team is better without Chandler Parsons. It’s a huge loss.

4. Portland Trail Blazers

Maybe it has something to do with the Trail Blazers playing in the Pacific Northwest, but each time we see this team, we can’t help but think, “oh yeah, those guys.”  LaMarcus Aldridge is one of the most efficient forwards in the NBA, and point guard Damian Lillard broke out last year with his heroics against the Houston Rockets in that thrilling playoff series. Don’t forget about veteran guard Steve Blake, and be sure to position centers Chris Kaman and Robin Lopez around the rim for timely offensive rebounds.

3. LA Clippers

You can’t go wrong with the Clips, especially with superstar Chris Paul running the point. He’s the reason Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan get all those crazy alley-oops, but he can also hit the three at will. Now factor in the streaky Jamal Crawford and points machine J.J. Reddick, and if you don’t score at least 90 points in games with 12-minute quarters, that’s on you.

2. San Antonio Spurs

Years ago, the biggest knock against the Spurs was their lack of offense. Its players slowed the game down just as the Steve Nash led Phoenix Suns were lighting nets on fire. Today, it’s tough to call San Antonio boring with Danny Green hitting three after three and Kawhi Leonard dunking from the rafters. Throw in expert passing from the likes of Tony Parker and Boris Diaw and this team is fun to watch. Tiago Splitter may drive you nuts, but there are so many weapons, you’ll always have a first, second and possibly third option on the court.

1. Cleveland Cavaliers

What, you expected the New York KnicksLeBron James plus Kevin Love (don’t forget about Kyrie Irving) equal instant offense.  LeBron can hit a shot from just about anywhere and the same goes for Love, who forces power forwards and centers to leave their comfort zones to guard him beyond the arc.  If hot-shooting guard Ray Allen joins the Cavs this season, forget about it. Bombs away!
