Ranking Every Major GTA Title Ranked From Worst to Best

GTA is quite the legendary franchise. In fact, even people who do not play video games can tell you they have at least heard of the series. Every title only seems to get higher and higher ratings, and with GTA 6 on the horizon, many are expecting greatness to be released once again.

With only seven titles in the series, many have various opinions about which games are considered the best.

Here is every major GTA title ranked from worst to best.

7. Grand Theft Auto II

Released in 1999, Grand Theft Auto II was a successful successor to the first title, which was only released a few years before. People who were fans of the series, though, had zero idea what was in store for them in the future.

Regardless, Grand Theft Auto II may have been a great game, but it still does not equal up to any of the other GTA games.

6. Grand Theft Auto

Despite it being a 2D game, the first Grand Theft Auto is just as legendary as all the other GTA titles. This was the first game in the series, paving a road for all the other titles and even other franchises. You would not have nearly as many open-world games or any of the GTA games if the first Grand Theft Auto was not developed.

Grand Theft Auto may be lower ranked on our list of all GTA games ranked from worst to best, but it is still a phenomenal game to play.

5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is an amazing game nonetheless, but it still does not compete when set beside some of the other 3D GTA titles. Still, though, Vice City created a generation of gamers. Released in 2002, this game was one of the earlier 3D games to provide players with a massive world to explore, making it loved by many.

Whether you are a huge fan or not, you cannot deny that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had a large impact on the gaming world, making it number five on our list.

4. Grand Theft Auto III

Released in 2001, Grand Theft Auto III felt like the true beginning of the infamous GTA franchise. It was the first 3D experience in the series, and it left players longing for more. Being able to commit crimes and complete high-stakes missions in a much more realistic setting really sold this game to the gaming community.

With plenty of re-releases on iOS and more, Grand Theft Auto III still stands as one of the greatest GTA games and video games in general of all time.

3. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas felt like the first GTA title to really hit everything they were trying to do on the mark. Its massive open world placed in the fictional city of San Andreas, gave gamers more than enough ground to explore. Simply put, this GTA game was ahead of its time and is still widely considered one of the best GTA titles.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has stood the test of time and is arguably one of the best GTA games ever made.

2. Grand Theft Auto V

Being one of the highest-sold video games of all time, Grand Theft Auto V is an easy pick for number two on our list of every GTA game ranked from worst to best. Released in 2013, this game held itself among the top-played games every year for almost a decade. Still, GTA V is widely considered one of the greatest open-world titles ever made.

Grand Theft Auto V made history with its insane number of sales and player-number count, making it an easy pick for number two on our list of every GTA game, ranked from worst to best.

1. Grand Theft Auto IV

Known on Metacritic as one of the highest-rated games ever made, Grand Theft Auto IV is an easy pick for number one on our list. This game not only seemed to perfect that open-world heist feeling, but it also gave us one of the most immersive storylines to date. GTA IV did everything right, and many are hoping that GTA 6 will follow in its footsteps.

Grand Theft Auto IV is an easy pick for number one on our list of ever GTA game ranked from worst to best.
