Best Characters for Song of Past Day in Genshin Impact

More buffs are always welcome

The Artifact domain introduced in Genshin Impact 4.3 brought two new Sets that have some niche-but-powerful uses. One of them is the Song of Past Day, a new set that grants more party-wide buffs for your team while having some other minor utilities.

Song of Past Day Set Effects

Description
2-piece effect:Healing Bonus +15%
4-piece effect:When the equipping character heals a party member, the Yearning effect will be created for 6s, which records the total amount of healing provided (including overflow healing). When the duration expires, the Yearning effect will be transformed into the “Waves of Days Past” effect: When your active party member hits an opponent with a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst, the DMG dealt will be increased by 8% of the total healing amount recorded by the Yearning effect. The “Waves of Days Past” effect is removed after it has taken effect 5 times or after 10s. A single instance of the Yearning effect can record up to 15,000 healing, and only a single instance can exist at once, but it can record the healing from multiple equipping characters. Equipping characters on standby can still trigger this effect.

No need to go through that wall of text. TLDR: your team gets extra damage after the wearer heals them. It works quite similarly to Ocean-Hued Clam, but it caps earlier and grants a buff instead of dealing damage directly. It also works similarly to Yunjin’s ultimate as the effect has a trigger limit instead of only a fixed duration.

The damage bonus works like Aggravate, so it’s not something to sleep on. A new Yearning is recorded as soon as the previous effect is gone, and the buff activates as soon as the conditions are met, but the main issue with this set is its low duration. But when compared to our other healing set options, this one does seem good but expires too fast to make an actual difference on teams.

While still having some uptime issues, some characters can actually make good use of its full effects in certain cases.

1 – Furina

Well, the set does seem like it was designed for her. And it does pair well with her, especially while using her healing stance. But most players that have her are already running Marechaussee Hunter and prefer her as a damaging character due to her incredible offensive potential. It does work for her, but it isn’t the prime choice.

2 – Baizhu

If you’re already bringing another Deepwood user to your team, Baizhu can be actually a good carrier for the Song set. He has enough healing potential to keep it up at all times, and it does scale well when using him as a Quicken support. Consider using it on him.

3 – Qiqi

Qiqi gets another tool to mess around with as she’s also quick to fill the healing quota. She doesn’t usually have that much of a synergy with most sets, but she does quite well with this one and Sacrifice Sword. A good option if you haven’t considered gearing your Qiqi yet.

4 – Sangonomiya Kokomi

While she seems like the prime user for the set, Kokomi usually prefers to bring other Artifact effects to her team. She can easily fill its conditions constantly, but that means sacrificing either the extra damage from Clam, a more consistent ATK buff with TotM, or Bloom damage with Paradise Lost. She’s good with this set, but there’s just too much competition already.

But all of the mentioned characters, just like many others, usually have too many alternative options that are generally better. Anemo healers will always prefer to bring Viridescent Venerer for the extra Resistance shred, while others like Bennett usually prefer to bring Noblesse. The damage bonus is more valuable than it seems, but the low duration just makes it harder to use.

The set is still viable and can be used if you find a way for it to fit in your team, but don’t worry too much about farming it. If you have some spare pieces from farming the other set obtained in the same domain go ahead, but no need to spend your hard-earned resin on it.
