Best Assassin Gods in SMITE (2022)

Find out who the best rogues are out there.

There are 23 Assassins in SMITE. Assassins are Melee Gods that deal Physical damage. In most cases, they are used for sneak attacks from Jungle (Ganks) against enemies and they usually level up in the Jungle. They have kits that allow them to deal bursts of damage that they can dish out in a matter of seconds in order to dispatch a single target as efficiently as possible and also to escape a fight as they are usually not adept at mitigating incoming damage.

The Best Assassin Gods In SMITE (May 2022)

Thor

The Norse God of Thunder is a great Assassin whether you’re new to SMITE or not. Simple and straightforward at first, he has many different uses and has a very flexible kit which makes him suitable for a wide variety of scenarios:

  • Passive Ability grants 10 Physical Power to each enemy God near him (Max 30).
  • Mjolnir’s Attunement (First Ability) throws his Mjolnir forward, doing damage to all enemies in its path. If hit twice, Gods take 200% damage from the return of the Mjolnir. While the hammer is flying, pressing the ability button again will teleport Thor to his hammer’s current location. Early on, this ability can deal damage equal to around 50% of HP of a non-tank which is one of the tickets for Thor to snowball hard in the late game.
  • Tectonic Rift (Second Ability) causes a fissure to appear in front of him, making some ground unpassable and also stunning enemies. Other than using it just to immobilize Gods and set them up for an easy double-tap with the Mjolnir’s Attunement, it can be used to block off certain parts of the map for almost four seconds.
  • Berserker’s Barrage (Third Ability) is a simple damage ability. Thor spins with his Mjolnir and deals DMG in a radius around him.
  • Anvil of Dawn, AKA his Ultimate, is what’s important about Thor. When he casts it, he has enough time to see most of the map from high in the sky and he can choose to land very far from the starting location. It’s his second ability that gives him mobility, and also a second Crowd Control ability because it also provides a stun when he lands. Similar to other abilities of this type, it can be used to engage in a team fight, disengage, or finish off fleeing enemies. Also, due to the absurd range, it can be used to steal Gold Fury, Fire Giant, and similar Jungle entities.

He is overall a great Jungler with high mobility and can support the efforts of his team in the laning phase very efficiently by constantly providing valuable ganks.

Thanatos

Thanatos is one of the most potent Gods in the early game, and this is one of the reasons that he ended up on our list. Even though he doesn’t scale well into late game like some other Assassins do, his early assistance to his teammates can set the stage for a fairly easy win of a match if he helps them get the necessary advantage over their lane opponents.

  • Passive Ability allows him to reveal enemy Gods in his Ultimate’s execute threshold, and also lets him heal whenever he deals a killing blow to an opponent.
  • Death Scythe (First Ability) hurls his scythe at an enemy, dealing massive damage, and slowing them for 3 seconds. It also heals him.
  • Scent of Death (Second Ability) gives immunity to Slow effects and grants additional Movement Speed and Physical Penetration. The Speed bonus increases up to two times when moving toward a foe God within the Instant Kill threshold of his Ultimate.
  • Soul Reap (Third Ability) swings his scythe, dealing Physical damage and Silencing enemies he hits. Thanatos moves at a reduced rate while swinging, but the width of the arc of this ability justifies that downside since Silence effects are very powerful in SMITE.
  • Hovering Death (Ultimate Ability) is somewhat similar to Thor’s – the difference being that he can move during the flight phase, and he can instantly kill enemy Gods he lands on if they are within the Instant Kill Threshold (which increases as you level the ability). If gods are not instantly killed, they are Stunned and damaged.

Thanatos is adept at clearing the Jungle fast and can move fast around the map, making him a valuable asset to help his teammates to get kills early, and ever since his release he has consistently seen play at all levels.

Susano

Susano has a high learning curve and requires a lot of practice to unleash his highest potential. The God of the Summer Storm uses his abilities to pull enemies close to him and attack them in a quick and orderly fashion. If a God attempts to escape, his Typhoon Ultimate slows and damages anything that comes in its path. Using all of his abilities properly to efficiently annihilate your opponent is somewhat difficult to master, but the peak of this mountain (learning curve) is well worth the climb.

  • His Passive Ability gives him the opportunity to deal bonus damage for every successful ability that landed on an enemy God.
  • Storm Kata (First Ability) allows him to move thrice in quick succession. After each attack, he has up to 3s to fire the next one. Having three Dashes gives you a lot of maneuverability to either chase a God, run away, or stay with one to damage it. Each Dash has a different effect:
  1. First Dash: 100% DMG to all enemies in a cone.
  2. Second Dash: 100% DMG to all opponents in a circle.
  3. Third Dash: 50% DMG while Dashing forward.
  • Wind Siphon (Second Ability) commands the winds to blow, dealing damage in a cone in front of him. Enemies in the center of the attack are pulled towards him.
  • Jet Stream (Third Ability) throws forward a gust of air which creates a whirlwind, dealing damage every .75s for 3s. He may activate this ability again to teleport to the whirlwind. If the initial gust hits an enemy, the whirlwind surrounds and travels with them, and teleporting to the opponent reduces this cooldown to 10s. This is another ability that provides mobility to Susano, making him one of the most mobile Gods in SMITE.
  • Typhoon (Ultimate Ability) summons a hurricane at his location and creates a Vortex that drags the enemies towards the center while growing to up to twice its original size, increasing the damage. Upon reaching full size, the storm is launched in the direction he is facing, knocking up opponents in its path. Susano may re-activate this ability early to fire the storm at its current size for reduced damage. If fired at less than half of its maximum size, he also foregoes the knock-up.

All in all, he has an Ultimate ability worth of a Mage (with some similarities with Kukulkan’s Ultimate) which rounds up his kit extremely well.

Bastet

Bastet is one of the most overpowered Assassins in SMITE, is very easy to pick up, and gives an amazing damage output with very little effort. She is fun to play and when you master her, you will be able to rule the map easily and enemy Gods will fear you.

  • Passive Ability gives her Physical Lifesteal and Physical Ability Lifesteal when hitting enemies.
  • Pounce (First Ability) allows her to jump to her target location, damaging enemies that are within her radius. For 4 seconds after pouncing, you can press the ability button again to go back to your initial location. Bastet moves 25% faster while in the return pounce state. Other than the usual usage of Leap abilities, Pounce can be used as a “hit and run” strategy with the other two abilities (there is more than enough time to cast both of them and return back home).
  • Razor Whip (Second Ability) swipes at her enemies, causing them to Bleed for damage every 0.66 seconds for the duration of the ability. It is a simple, straightforward Cone-based damage spell and her main damage source.
  • Ensnaring Claw (Third Ability) sends a cat forward at her enemies. If one hits an opponent, it Roots them for half a second and damages them. It persists for 4s or until it is defeated. The cat’s attacks will apply a 2s slow to the foe.
  • Huntress of Bast (Ultimate Ability) is relatively new, added during her rework. It makes her Crowd Control Immune and sends a projectile that travels forward in a line (through walls and objects as well), damaging and stunning the first enemy God that it hits. A Huntress of Bast appears near the target and a destination is marked at Bastet. The Huntress then picks up and carries the enemy hit to the marked location. On successful capture of an opponent, quicksand forms underneath them, creating a Vortex that drags them toward the center and deals damage. It is very powerful and elevates her overall kit quality to a higher level.

Tsukuyomi

Tsukuyomi is currently the most terrifying God to deal with when it comes to the Assassin class and jungling in Conquest mode. He possesses a rare combination of brutal damage and chases down abilities, making him nearly impossible to escape from, even with proper positioning.

His abilities deal melee and ranged damage, allowing him to follow up with his Ultimate Ability, which makes him dash through targets at breakneck speed (still not faster than Mercury!). Combine all of that with the Silver Moon Caltrops he lays on the ground, which causes bleed damage, and you have the recipe for the best Assassin in SMITE currently.

  • Shingetsu and Mangetsu (Passive Ability) – Shingetsu is in Tsukuyomi’s left hand and Mangetsu is in his right. When these weapons inflict damage on an enemy, they gain additional powers. Shingetsu gets a 50% cleave and restores mana when empowered. Mangetsu deals additional damage and restores health when empowered.
  • Dark Moon Shuriken (First Ability) summons a Dark Moon Shuriken by calling on Shingetsu. It inflicts damage on enemies and sticks into Gods that are hit. Tsukuyomi retrieves it and reduces its cooldown when he gets close to the opponent. Shingetsu’s next Basic Attack becomes ranged after using this ability. It also steals the enemy’s Movement Speed.
  • Kusarigama (Second Ability) – Shingetsu and Mangetsu form a Kusarigama when joined together. Tsukuyomi swings his weapon to the left and right, inflicting damage and disarming adversaries. The weapon is then swung forward with greater force, stunning adversaries in front of him. He gains 25% Movement Speed while channeling.
  • Silver Moon Caltrops (Third Ability) – Tsukuyomi holds Mangetsu aloft as it erupts into starlight, showering the ground with stars. As they land, they transform into Caltrops, harming nearby foes and slowing them for 1.5 seconds. Enemies moving through this Caltrop field take damage and get slowed. Mangetsu’s next Basic Attack becomes ranged when he uses this ability. Physical Damage is also increased.
  • Piercing Moonlight (Ultimate Ability) is the scariest ability of Tsukuyomi hands down. He uses the Full Moon’s power to obtain Crowd Control Immunity and a 20% Damage Reduction. He sends forth four piercing moonlight beams, marking damaged enemy Gods. Each beam has the potential to hit a maximum of three opponents. He sprints forward at light speed after shooting all four beams, racing through all Gods in the sequence they were hit, delivering significant damage. Tsukuyomi’s dashing comes to an end after the last one is hit. He also gets both of his ranged basic attacks if he kills an enemy with this ability.

We’ve reached the end of this list, but as usual, we’ll provide a few honorable mentions because there are just too many great Assassins in SMITE that sadly couldn’t make it here for one reason or another:

Serqet, Set, Ravana, Nemesis, Ne Zha, Cliodhna, Arachne, Bakasura, Loki

These are all great Gods with very interesting kits and playstyles. Most of them have been relevant for years, some got reworked in the past, but all of them can contribute to their teams well – especially when a good team composition is arranged that will make the most use out of all the kits.
