Strategies to Win Chicken Chasing in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

The objective of chicken chasing in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to lead the disheveled chicken through fiery wooden posts without killing it. There are numerous methods to doing this, such as commanding it to follow you as a paladin, using Speak with Animals to convince it to run to the finish line, or placing crates around to lead it in the right direction.

Alternatively, you can use the owlbear cub to navigate the race in the chicken’s stead. Like with the chicken, you can chase it through the obstacle course or convince it to run to the end.

Depending on your class, spells, and stats, you can use different strategies to lead the chicken (or owlbear cub) to the wooden posts. For example, if you have the Speak with Animals spell, potion, or scroll on hand, you can activate it, talk to the chicken, and persuade it to run to the finish line to get out of the camp safely.

If you want to beat chicken chasing in true obstacle course action, you can jump over fences and ropes to reach the chicken quicker, making it easier to guide it toward the end. You can also use turn-based mode to position your character around the area before the chicken runs away.

Generally speaking, you want to avoid killing the chicken or persuading it to attack the goblins. If the chicken dies, you will lose the minigame and get no rewards. However, it does offer unique dialogue with Krolla; if this is worth sacrificing a chicken to see, then it’s up to you whether you do it.
