How to Get the Slayer Form in Baldur’s Gate 3

First things first. The Slayer Form is an ability that is wholly unique to those playing the Dark Urge. This is a unique character you’ll pick during character creation.

If you’re playing Dark Urge, you won’t be able to access your Slayer Form until Act 2, when you encounter Isobel.

Minor spoilers ahead.

Isobel is a Cleric of Selune, and the only thing keeping the Last Light Inn from falling to the curse of darkness that surrounds it. After you meet her for the first time, she and the inn will be attacked. You’ll be prompted to save her.

But if you’re playing Dark Urge and want the Slayer Form, Isobel has to die.

But if you’ve already saved her by accident, don’t worry. You’re not cut off from this ability. Take a long rest and your infernal butler, Sceritas, will come to you. He’ll instruct you to kill Isobel. Do so, and he’ll gift you the Slayer Form.

Is it Worth Killing Isobel for the Slayer Form in Baldur’s Gate 3?

In terms of combat, the Slayer Form is… okay. It outpaces the Owl Bear Wild Shape but it’s outpaced by a Moon Druid’s Panther, and has fewer uses per day, too. You’ll retain your permanent passives, like Volo’s ‘See Invisibility’ eye, but nothing else will scale.

Killing Isobel is a major decision that will make traversing Act 2 much harder. If you kill her, you’ll lose the Last Light Inn. If you opt to save the Grove, the Tieflings and Harpers will die. Your companions will probably be disturbed, if not outright disgusted, by your Slayer Form. But this won’t be the case if Isobel gets kidnapped. So, letting Isobel get got isn’t a bad idea.

As a pro to killing Isobel, if you speak to Jalheira after the barrier falls, she can join you immediately. Usually, you’d recruit her at the end of Act 2.

For this reason, if you opt for this route, it’s best to get the Moon Lantern with the Harpers before betraying them. The Moon Lantern will let you traverse the farthest reaches of the Shadow-Cursed lands.

Act 3 spoilers ahead.

The last consequence is that Orin will not have access to the Slayer Form if you do. Instead, she’ll lean heavily into her Rogue classes. But the Slayer Form is actually very strong against her, making it quite easy to take her down.
