How to Obtain the Nyrulna Trident in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

To obtain the Nyrula trident, you must speak to Akabi in the Circus of the Last Days during Act Three, steal his ring, and spin his wheel to win the jackpot, causing him to send you to a jungle. Within this jungle, you’ll find a purple portal and a treasure chest containing the legendary Nyrulna weapon.

How to Enter the Circus of the Last Days

To initially enter the circus, speak to Benji and Klaus to overhear a discussion about their entry requirements. They’ll explain that Benji has to check if your party is a group of “vicious murderers” before denying you entry due to your odor. Odd statements aside, you’ll have to persuade, bribe, or intimidate the pair into letting you into the circus.

In my case, I used my wizard character to deceive them easily. Certain classes can gain advantages in this dialogue, but otherwise, you can use the three default options to enter.

Once you’re in, you’ll find Akabi directly west of the entrance, who you’ll speak to to begin obtaining the Nyrulna trident.

Stealing Akabi’s Ring

After entering the Circus of the Last Days, speak to Akabi at coordinates (X: -68, Y: -73) and talk about the wheel next to him. If you attempt to spin it now, you’ll fail the attempt, as he has rigged it. To win, you must pickpocket his ring before attempting the spin.

To do this, have a character hide behind Akabi and pickpocket the Djinni Ring. To make things easier, use your main character if they’re stealthy or a party member like Astarion to take the ring. Once you have the ring, pay 500 coins to spin the wheel, resulting in an immediate jackpot. Akabi angrily calls you a thief and a cheater, banishing you to a jungle.

Finding the Nyrulna Trident

Once Akabi banishes you to the jungle, you must sneak past the patrolling dinosaurs or defeat them in battle. Your goal is to reach a purple portal with a treasure chest in front of it at coordinates (X: -1513, Y: -1523). After finding it, either jump down and take a bit of damage or misty step onto the platform before approaching the treasure chest.

Once you find the treasure chest, you have two options: open it right there and succeed the DC 20 lock, or pick it up and give it to a character with higher odds of opening it. Inside the chest is the Nyrulna legendary trident.

Nyrulna Trident Stats

The Nyrulna is a legendary trident with the following stats:

  • 4-16 Damage
    • 1d8 (1d6)+2 Piercing
    • 1d6 Thunder
  • Zephyr Connection
    • This weapon will return to your hand when thrown. You cannot be forced to drop the trident. When thrown, the weapon creates an explosion that deals 3-12 thunder damage in a 6m blast centred on the target.
  • Veil of the Wind
    • You gain a +3m bonus to movement speed and jump distance. Equipping this weapon gives you Immunity to falling damage.
  • Nyrulana: Glowing
    • This object shines with a glowing light in a radius of 6m.
  • Weapon Enchantment +3

All three of Nyrulna’s passives are incredibly powerful, combining increased movement with ranged AoE and a permanent glowing light that synergizes with items like the Callous Glow ring. It also deals plenty of base damage on top of its extra effects, making it a solid upgrade for your characters.
