How to Find the Arcane Tower in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

When roaming around in the Underdark, you will indeed run into the Arcane Tower. Before entering, it is suggested that you and your party at are level five since the enemies here are challenging. You can find the Arcane Tower in the southwest of the Underdark.

It is guarded by two arcane turrets (X: 22, Y: -260). To fight the turrets, you can enter Turn Based Mode. You can also avoid them all together. By walking up the stairs in Turn Based Mode, travel with Fly to the giant mushrooms found at (X: 7, Y:-297). Descending down the mushrooms will lead you straight to the Arcane Tower Basement where more turrets will be found, so read below to see how to disable them.

Disabling Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3 requires traveling to the Arcane Tower and placing a Sussur Bloom in the bottom level’s power generator. However, to destroy them before reaching the tower, use lightning spells like Gale’s Witch Bolt to take them out quickly. By doing this, you can easily traverse the area without fear of the turrets attacking you.

Tip:

Lightning Spells to use: Shocking Grasp, Witch Bolt, Lightening Bolt, Call Lightning, The Joltshooter.

Lightning Scrolls to use: Scroll of Witch Bolt, Scroll of Chain Lightning, Scroll of Shocking Grasp.

If you have a spellcasting character, like a Wizard, Sorcerer, or Warlock, you can also learn lightning attacks instead of recruiting Gale into your party. Alternatively, you can use scrolls to activate one-time-use lightning spells or learn them for a small gold fee.

Destroying the turrets with lightning is especially helpful once you reach the tower’s interior. Alongside the two turrets outside, you’ll find a couple more inside the building that can easily catch you off guard if you’re not expecting them.

You can use your lightning abilities to take every turret out or save your spell slots for this part. Going into turn-based mode will also help you precisely navigate the area and activate your abilities without the turrets constantly shooting at your characters.

Once you take out the turrets, they’ll stay turned off until your party reaches the Arcane Tower and activates its power generator. Fortunately, if you cannot access lightning spells, turning on the generator also destroys the turrets.
